The cutting hook and the smaller more “pocketable” size of the Tti along with the better price is what does it for me. Also the immediately outside accessible blades, file and saw are really handy

I have a tti. While I think the ARC is cool as hell, and love the magnacut blade, I just don't feel overall that it offers much more than the tti does at that price point. I couldn't justify picking one up. My vote is for the tti.

Just ordered my arc last night however, I was doing a bunch of reviews and the one thing that really turns me off is how flexible the arc is when you’re squeezing the pliers and when you’re pulling the handles left and right from each other, I hate having flimsy tools! But I also hear that it’s something not to worry about…
@The_RC_Guru11 ай бұрын
I have the charge tti shown in the video and will be getting an arc too. The charge “crimper” I’ve used a ton over the years actually in my RC truck hobby. Holds shock shafts and more. I wish the charge and arc could mix and match tools. Who the heck let them put out a file with a hole in it! Haha. The diamond side is great for knife edge maintenance and fingernails I suppose.

I have both and I really prefer my tti because in heavy use the arc handels are really uncomfortable all those sharp corners

I'd still go with the Charge until the gap in the Arcs hard wire cutters have been fixed and that awful loose bit holder, that should be solid imo

TTI for me. I like the tools more including the knife design, wire cutters and serrated blade with the hook cutter, I like the Titanium tool with the S30V better, I use mine every day and won't be ditching it that's for sure. If the new one was better, I would get it, but it's not an upgrade for me, it's a downgrade.

The weight difference isn't enough to compel me to buy off on the Arc. The entire reason that I sought out your video (and now subscribed) was to see the weight difference measured. There are clear differences between the two, and albeit I like the one-handed functions of the Free series, the magnets are another no-go for me, especially since I mostly use my file on metal.

It is said that it is better for the magnet to attract the metal vs the shavings getting into other moving parts . And some fab shop folks echoed that point, saying the magnets are a non issue.

@dc8201 Жыл бұрын
Looks like no clear winner. I like that the ARC is a little lighter. I love the fast deployable blade with the thumb stud which improves it in the area of a defensive blade. Love the bigger Scissor. The cons are that there is no secondary blade and the awe dont make up for it. The serrate blade would come in handy for cutting a seatbeat in an emergency. No ruler which Ive used before. S30V is a good steel but I am not sure about a Magnacut.
@danieloliver6300 Жыл бұрын
S30V is a premium steel; Magnacut is super premium...maybe overkill actually.

S30V should hold an edge longer but Magnacut is tougher. Both are as stainless as you could need.

I am from Kazakhstan. Here Charge TTi costs 235 dollars, Arc costs 274 dollars. Small difference in price. Advise which of them is better to buy. Of course, I want to buy both, but I only have enough money for one. I am choosing between these two. I also have Wave+, Skeletool CX and Victorinox Spirit Plus Ratchet.
@ЭхоУнитаза-ц9у4 ай бұрын
So what would you recommend to buy? I like Arc more, but judging by the reviews, it has a problem with the nippers, they break, do not fit tightly and there is a gap. Also in your video I saw that the removable bit dangles in different directions.

For me personally I don't like the "Free" tech on Leathermans. I had a Free P2 and didn't like it because it felt almost like a butterfly knife that was snappy opening the pliers. Arc would be great if you needed to switch between the tools frequently. The Charge wins for me because I like a more comfortable feel when using a tool rather than being able to access it faster.

I read that the Arc has magnets. If you're filing metal. Would the debris stick to the tool?

If that's the case, I bet it would. That'd be a deal breaker for some.
@matthexkt840910 ай бұрын
it does and it will prop jam the mechanism. also magnets arent permanent, strong impacts and other magnets can degrade or even demagnetice the magnets.

The amount of cope for the tti is wild. It’s clear the arc is a better tool. Don’t go throw out your tti and you could even make a case to not replace your tti with an arc. But the arc is a better tool, no doubt. It’s newer, more advanced, and better polished. It’s functionally a better tool that’s better executed. Of course it costs more then the tti, that’s what any of you claiming the tti is better are coping for.

Have both ! ARC is a better tool for EDC on none workdays or none workshop days, the Charge is a little better as a work tool by having no magnets ! I prefer the serrated blade on the Charge and would happily lose the scissors on the ARC as I never use them, never ! I have to say the one hand opening on the ARC really makes the Charge feel old and dated but overall, ‘just’ the Charge would be the better buy if you only had one.
@nickgood81667 ай бұрын
Greetings from Pretoria. There's no solid reason to swop the Charge Ti for the Arc. I have a non Ti Charge+. I like the serrated blade and ruler - you can measure your todger, whilst '3 sheets to the wind'. Which, let's face it, is essential. Also, the blade shape is purdier.. I just have to use my Spyderco sharpener a tad more frequently than if I had the Arc. That's OK. If you're new into it, fine. Otherwise, don't bother to swop out.

What’s the difference between magnacut and s30v. And 420hc. Isn’t a softer steel better for corrosion resistance and tougher and can be sharpened in the field. I thought harder steels were brittle
@appleztooranges Жыл бұрын
Knifenerds has numbers to compare the two. S30v holds a blade longer and better corrosion resistance. 420 hc I think is less brittle, less likely to fracture
@annekedebruyn7797 Жыл бұрын
S30v has great edge retention, so has magnacut. The difference between Magnacut is that it essentially has two protective layers against corrosion and that it sits in between the S30v and 420hc in terms of how easy it is to sharpen. Lots of folk like magnacut because it has a lot of "best of both worlds" with other steel types for knives. Does it matter for most people? No not really. 420hc is standard for a reason. It's affordable and does the job well enough for 90% of the use cases.
@marcdee4427 Жыл бұрын
@@annekedebruyn7797 thanks for your reply. I’m just an sak user, I find them to be tough corrosion resistant and easy to sharpen, I think 🤔 vic steel is perfect. That’s the reason in my opinion lots of the worlds military’s use them . A general purpose pocket knife, has to be just that . I don’t want something that will chip or snap and rust.
@monkpato11 ай бұрын
All three steels are stainless, S30V hold an edge very long but isn't really tough, whereas Magnacut is very tough and still holds a good edge. 420 is tough but doesn't hold an edge well.
