The ARC is really overpriced. The Surge has it all. The looks of the ARC is better, but in the end: it is just a tool, where the Surge (in my opinion) is better than the ARC.

if knipex made a multitool game over for leatherman.

The ARC is excessively overpriced for the features it is offering. Except for its knife, the ARC doesn't have any "WOW" features that deserve that high price or the hype associated with its release. In fact, it is lacking behind when compared to the SURGE. I am disappointed with the ARC and surely not getting it. I'll stick to my Surge and use the big difference in buying something else just like you did

I don’t think your wrong here! I’d take a surge over an arc
@marcinchojecki751910 ай бұрын
Shortly ARC is nice overpiced toy. Surge is a tool. I was thinking of purchasing ARC but realised it is not for me. While offroading, overkanding bushcraft ARC would not withstand tasks. Dirt, dust, mud would just damaged it. As far as I am concerned magnacut steel is most exoensive part of ARC however I prefer knife that i am able to sharpen easily.
@Dingdongwitchisdead9 ай бұрын
@@marcinchojecki7519the most surprising thing for me regarding the Surge was how sharp the knife came out of box. It was razor sharp, easily shaved hair. I am quite impressed. I have a bunch of 440 knives and this one and my original Gerber knife I brought in the 90’s are awesome slicers.

I think the arc is a very good tool with everything incorporated, I think it’s a little pricey but then again what would you give for a pocket knife with magnacut, totally agree the T shank adaptor is a game changer, my view, I’d stick with my surge as I use it heavily day in day out and I’d be scared to scratch the arc 😂

**which is a better value? Leatherman arc vs Leatherman Surge combined with knipex plier wrench?
@FreedomFox1 Жыл бұрын
The Surge is a good value, but rather large for pocket carry. Needing the sheath keeps me from using it.
@wildweasel8564 Жыл бұрын
I added the mini bit driver to my Surge since I wear glasses and am constantly 'tuning them up". I often pair up my Wave+ or Surge with a Skeletool when traveling since they share the Leatherman Bit Kit, which is a must have accessory for me. I was hoping for more from the ARC than it delivers. In my opinion Leatherman should have added the features of the ARC to an improved WAVE.
@survivalistcookbook962511 ай бұрын
Because of the free system the handles swing freely which can be a disadvantage. On the surge/wave you can hold one of the handles to extend reach or increase torque.

Leatherman have made a fancy one there but it’s like a toy. I would like some usable tools for on site work eg a stanley blade holder.. a jab saw , standard bit holder built in .. useful allen keys built in hammer end/Chisel /nail puller /magnet to detect screws in drywall bradawl for marking accurate points and finally a built in laser level,torch. If leatherman don’t raise their game and make something like that the Chinese will sooner or later. Innovation and quality is key in this tool category. As for knipex they are properly made and designed tools . And yes I would like a small circular saw built in too but that’s just a dream…😅

I think the Magnacut tax is what is pushing the cost north of $200. If it was $189 it would be a great deal.

And it’s made in America, and labeled as such.

Surge's needlenose pliers would've had a hard time fiddling zip ties through the holes of scaffolding planks. Leatherman Charge tti day nite. The t-saw replacement thing is real tho. Aliexpress is sending it for the Charge

....exactly right, the SURGE Gen2 is still King. I will not be buying the ARC. Apparently there is another patent in the works, from leatherman, based on the Surge/Wave .... I think I will wait for that to appear.

For these guys that complain so vehemently about the weight of the Surge there is a quick fix. Buy yourself a concealed carry gun belt. Problem solved. You will barely know it’s on you. The weight is distributed nicely. I can’t imagine not having the Surge on me.

I use my surge everyday as a commercial HVAC tech. I definitely want to get the arc eventually, but I probably wouldn’t use it for work
