Shame if it does lock.

Non locking knives are not safe. Restrictions on them are an infringement of liberty and one more reason for Scotland to ditch those Brexiting fools. Does the EU have similar restrictions? I'm at least partly kidding by the way. I can't talk anyway. Philadelphia bans knives unless you're using them for work, and such a knife is normally used for that type of work.

I'm one of of those brexit fools, what does this have to do with locking knives? knives are governed by individual countries, not the EU. Scotland is one of the worst countries in the UK/EU to be a knife owner. I must disagree that non locking knives are not safe, I've never had a non locking knife fail on me, further still for a very long time most folding knives where non locking. I do agree, that Restrictions are an infringement on liberty, indeed. We have no Liability in Scotland, or the wider UK.

@@scotsman7626 I do use a lot of knives that are non locking. SAK's come to mind. But mostly for light duty stuff. I'd much prefer to use a locking blade if I was really getting after it. It's not that non locking tools fail but that they can abruptly close on your fingers. From what I hear, the UK can't let Scotland go anyway because they'd have nowhere to park their subs. This is from a cheeky Yank with no dog in the fight mate.

@William Tell You can carry a sgian dubh in England, same laws apply. Carrying a one while wearing a kilt comes under "National costume" as stated on Gov.UK. Similarly a Sikh can carry a kirpan all over the UK, same rules.

@William Tell There is no homogenous ''rest of Europe'' in terms of knife laws, but different countries, each with their own knife laws. In some (Belgium, Ireland) you may not carry any kind of knife at all in public, full stop. In others like the Czech Republic you can walk around with a machete on your belt. Other countries have different degrees between those two extremes in terms of what you may carry.
