As a retired professional accountant, the real problem in Australia is high taxation and excessive cost of duplication of government services with the Federal and States system. Governments waste a lot of taxpayers money. Australia needs a Department of Government Efficiency to eliminate unnecessary expenditure. It also needs to cut taxes and regulation.

Although I speak Japanese, and the cost of good housing in Japan is incredibly cheap, I don't really want to move to japan or any other Asian country. My hope is that the war/special operation in Russia will end soon. If it does end soon, I will hopefully be able to leave Australia, where both sides of my family have lived for more than 200 years, and go to Eastern Russia. Other places like Moldova and Romania are a good option. One of the main problems Australia has, is crime. The Australian government is extremely lenient on organized crime. The reason for this is money laundering. Many small businesses are used to launder money. These small businesses are run properly, pay taxes and superannuation and employ a lot of people. The problem is so huge, the government can not afford to stop organized crime, if it does stop organized crime, a huge sector that employs a lot of people will disappear and 10's of thousands of people will suddenly become unemployed. There is now also a new "elite" class of people in Australia, made up of executive level public servants, politicians, gov't consultants and advisors. This is on top of those who are always guaranteed gov't contracts. So why Russia? Russia has an extremely advanced education and technology sector, and lots of jobs.

Negative gearing was introduced in Oz in 1938, but I agree that negative gearing played a role in increasing property prices in Oz especially after compulsory superannuation was introduced by Paul Keating. Negative gearing in Oz can only be applied on investment properties which encourages speculation. In the US it’s applied to your primary residence, this is good for the community and leads to lower time preferences and better quality housing. The other major contributor has been a huge increase in migration.

In 4 years rentals are literally double where do you think it's going from here thats right it will continue to sky-rocket. Anytime the government touches housing they make it worse it's because they have no clue what there doing or its intentional. You will own nothing and be happy, in reality you will be pissed off. And to compare Aus to a already corrupt communist places like the UK is bizarre there's a reason people are fleeing there too. In a few years Australia will be as bad if not worse than the UK now. But by then because you have typical blind ausy attitude you will still think it's ok somehow. We are where the UK was at around 5 years ago. While house prices have generally increased over time, the claim that they have always doubled every 7.5 years, including during depressions and recessions, is an oversimplification. Housing markets are influenced by various factors such as economic conditions, interest rates, supply and demand, and government policies. There have been periods, especially during economic downturns like the Great Depression and the Great Recession, where housing prices did not follow this pattern and even experienced significant declines.

Anyone who vote Labor/Green/Teals have NO right to complaining. For everyone else, I agree, don't plan to retire in AU. We have over 1 trillion in debt with no real prospect of paying it.. Your average Australian is an insular minded prisoner in their own country as a result and most of us are doing it that tough they're at each other's throats. Not to mention our American controlled press has half the country beating War drums against our biggest trading partner (a joke given China hasn't been at War since 16th March 1979) AND we've just blown the farm on submarines we neither need or will be lucky to even see in this lifetime. It's just a pathetic excuse for a democracy or true freedom AND you've subsequently got more chance of running over a Tasmanian Tiger than finding an affordable lifestyle. In most countries local wages haven’t kept up with inflation. Australia is not unusual here. The same can be said for rapidly rising real estate prices Young people moving to low income countries to enjoy a lower cost of living may regret this decision if they haven’t purchased a home in their home country first as may be permanently locked out of the market. The biggest concern with Australia, the UK, Canada and NZ has been the rapid change in culture. The rejection of common sense and the embrace of the absurd, divisive Woke agenda. The political and administrative class have clearly turned their backs against their citizens. The US it would seem has shifted its dangerous course. Let’s hope that other countries wake up too.

Agree, the US at least has a better option to take, as does Canada. We in Australia have very low quality in politics. The minor parties have some stars, but they never get good coverage or exposure as all the main stream channels and ABC are brought and paid for by either the Gov or left wing woke billionaire nut jobs. Untill the masses wake up, learn how to vote properly, the rigged electoral system will ensure we have only a two party system, both with the same agenda.

We have recently returned from a holiday in Melbourne and found for the first time ever, we’re dealing with Hay Fever. We have traveled to Melbourne on and off over 20yrs, last time we visited was before C19. Definitely noticed a change to the air quality this time around. It’s as if the quality of air is being deliberately reduced in the CBD and public transport. Out of the CBD and public transport we would recover really quickly.

While people say to stay and fight for your freedom... that's all well and good. If most Australians were awake to what's happening, most seem to be either sheep or asleep or wilfully asleep and are more of a hinderance they'd rather compy... Most have been endoctrinated through the education system and have no love for their country. We have a division here... like the UK, it's a lost cause... Imo

Agree, that's why I left. The people are in a coma and do not want to wake up. Couldn't fight on my own.

You can't fight what's coming. Best to hunker down, get your preps, & a way of protecting yourself! Good luck..

Good point about consumerism. People don’t realise it, but it is usually the cause of all their problems. Complain that they don’t have enough money, but have numerous debts for new car, new this, new that. Wage/salary going to things that are really important or needed (unless you are a follower) Anyway, I also plan to exit. Get more for my money in a lower cost of living country. Also happier, friendly people and a better atmosphere all round. Get a passport and travel, your viewpoint of other countries will change. If you make the move, never buy a property. Always rent… easier to leave if you want to leave. Just pack your bags and go.

100% this. Aussies are obsessed with owning shit and renewing it every few years, financing ourselves up to our eyeballs. It's partly self inflicted.
@Syrock1Ай бұрын
You're exactly right it's a big part of the problem. Everyone needing to have the latest model of everything like phones, cars, TV, computers, fashion. Why such a stupid competition?. It's more important to be reasonable without limiting yourself to such silly trends. I have a 7 yr old phone that might not be able to do photo shoots or peer out into the galaxy with crystal clarity but it gets the job done. People are just too silly and brainwashed and pressured by social media and aggregious advertising into thinking they need the latest craze in everything to be able to live. Just ridiculous and maddening.

Most expensive country, real estate, rental and buying is totally unaffordable. Stressed nation. Taxes are highest also
@annetaarts1126Ай бұрын
In the Netherlands they just introduced a fine on emigration. If you move to another country you still have to pay dutch taxes for 5 years. Maybe that will also happen in other western countries like Australia.

It's so bad. I can't find anything to rent and if I do, it gets taken. You have to pay at least $600 a week for something decent. The houses are way overpriced and everything that is cheap gets snavelled up before you can even enquire. It's just the rich getting richer no wonder the youth are going crazy and violent. There's no hope.

Lucky you don't have health issues and can actually afford to relocate. Try living on a DSP and finding a rental in Qld. WA hasn't got there yet.

Yep. In Perth I'm noticing gov. 360 camera surviellance randomly on a street not near any traffic lights or anything. Coles/Aldi and others shove a camera in your face (treating you like a criminal) even though they already have birds-eye view over checkout and cameras literally everywhere in the store. But no one seems to care about that, which I find odd. If anyone else behaved like that we'd call them creepy.

Australia is too expensive now and I agree, for singles over 50 is a lonely world...however South America is not a paradise either. Countries like Poland and Hungry are much cheaper and easy to travel around Europe. I went there this year and loved Poland specially...

I am Polish. Look carefully at what the current government is doing, e.g. regarding emigrants, whether it serves citizens. We have a fairly complicated tax system, etc. One thing makes us very different from the West, we have not trusted our rulers for decades.

Alot of Aussies complaining too much. Moved over from nz. Been living in Melbourne for 16 years now and I am living the dream. Live afew hundred meters from the beach. Have a retail management job that pays me 6 figures.. Yes I do work 6 days a week but that affords me a comfortable life living in a country with security a nice house and have money left over to go on my annual holiday around the world. Life is what you make of it guys I sure didn't have half the life In NZ that I do in Australia. Thank you Australia 🇦🇺 ♥️

Went to OZ in 2003 for the fitst time as a young child. My paremts fell in love with Brisbane and tried to get a residency visa. They were just over the age limit at 45. They were devastated. I travelled round OZ in 2019. Loved the experience but glad my parents couldn't move over there. Far too expensive.

I packed up my bags a few years and got to live the best possible life in SE Asia across Singapore and India, it was a mix of work demands and also wanting to get out of locked down oz. We’re talking the best housing, the best nightlife, cooks, cleaners, Nannies and a private driver. On the other side I can safely say Australia is worth fixing and dying for, it doesn’t matter how much money you have nothing will take this home away from us or ruin it any further. Don’t waste your energy with this loser mentality like I had, as it’s easy to have in that moment of despair and weakness, stay here and fight.
