I don’t think that you would call Amanda racist. Because she’s self aware and doesn’t want to be that way? She’s completely prejudice.

You’re right! Prejudice is the correct way to describe her.

Thank you so much for doing this review! You are the first person for me to see this done and I am so glad that you did. I share the same sentiments about the change up on the original character relationship setup. Yet overall, I get it, too - that movies have to be intriguing.

What was your least favorite part of Leave The World Behind?

I haven't read the book yet, so I am sure there is a lot of internal monologue that saves the actual abomination of an ending. Something you usually see is these mystery-apocalypse movies, is that the mystery writes a huge check that the ending always fails to cash. You see it a lot in horror movies as well, great mystery, but an ending that reduces the score from 8/10 to 4/10. I wouldn't say I had least favourite part, the whole movie was awful. I can only compare it to How It Ends, the awful apocalypse movie that wasted the talent of Forest Whitaker, much like this movie wastes Julia Roberts and Mahershala Ali. Generic 'mystery/war' happening that causes bizarre and interesting events to occur in both movies, but sadly in both movies all we get is a conspiracy theory explanation and we are supposed to just take it. I will say that the ending of How it Ends is 100x worse than Leave the World Behind, to give it its due. The Deer scene at the end would not have been out of place in a comedy/apocalypse movie, but again we are meant to take it seriously. Ali had some good scenes, but Roberts was largely wasted on being a thinly veiled racist/prejudicial woman.
