All I can say ..... just be happy with a smile on. That's the way I do when I have no control over the big picture. I have a better day when I do that. I catch you on the next one.

At least the guys at that base can tell you where to go, in Vegas, Nellie Airforce Base can never tell you, everytime I’ve been there, and needed help to how to get to a particular spot, they say “I don’t know”

The common sense train has ran dangerously low on common sense and is in danger of deraling We live near March Air Reserve Base When I drove a tow truck everytime I went on that base it was a hassle One time I told the MP at the gate That's a mighty big gun your carrying He looked at me and said It's a mighty big base Also speaking of towing Your rotator driver needs to go to rigging school for rotators He gave up way to easy From a tow operator point of view I see a company that wants to charge for two rotaters instead of one I'm not there so IDK But from experience it sure appears that way

I don’t know enough about the wrecker service sometimes as a driver you just do what you can do and mosey on down the road. I’m glad my work is by the hour.
@pupweiller117 күн бұрын
That wrecker driver was either lazy, dumb or both ,that machine complete is about 80k lbs & with the arm & bucket off prolly 70k lbs & that 75 ton rotator could easily pick up & set that 40 ton Cat on your trailer.
@chrisgabaldon661416 күн бұрын
I don’t doubt it. It seemed like he gave up awfully quick to me, but that was his truck and sometimes it’s best for us drivers just to do what we’re told I certainly wasn’t gonna be the one responsible for making him go further than he was comfortable with

Damn shoot and a miss. They need to have someone pull the gear out of the drive. With the gear out the rotator can drag with no problem. If they don’t then you’ll go through all that trouble to unload it but then you run the risk of it being trapped on your trailer. I’ve had my run-ins with moving broken-down equipment and tracked equipment is the worst. They might need a winch truck to move it.
@chrisgabaldon661416 күн бұрын
They pulled the drives, but for some reason, only one side was free wheeling

Sucks you left empty but that sometimes goes with it. The shape that thing is in should be stripped and headed to the scrap yard. Hopefully the next load is more fruitful.
@chrisgabaldon661416 күн бұрын
It was on its way to a scrapyard for sure
@DannyDan2k1318 күн бұрын
I'm not gonna lie that wrecker driver didn't really give it much of a go. I'm not convinced he had his winch brake set (it seemed to roll far too easily and the brakes didn't squeal at all) and you commented about whether he was gonna use the underlift to stabalise it - he does have a giant rear outrigger he could have put down with spades that dig into the ground he could have flipped down. Tbf a quick google says that machine could weigh up to 40 tons (although without half the boom and bucket it'll be a bit lighter) so it would definately be a heavy lift for the reach required to place it on your trailer. A lot of people seem to forget that 75 ton is the rating with the boom fully retracted and raised as high as it can go so it's the shortest distance from the centre of the trucks mass and the limit starts decreasing the moment you extend the boom even slightly further then that but I'm very suprised he didn't even give it a go. He could have pulled along side it, given it a test lift and had you back up under it if it were possible but he didn't even try.
@chrisgabaldon661416 күн бұрын
I sort of thought he gave up a little too soon myself, but that was his truck
@DannyDan2k1315 күн бұрын
@@chrisgabaldon6614 He coulda just hooked it up and given it a test lift, either it comes off the floor or his truck starts flaoting on the far side, in which point he stops and they come back again with two trucks
@shawnjarman986018 күн бұрын
So, a 75ton rotator, that can sit right next to the machine, can’t pick a 30 ton machine up? Why do in not believe that, but if you’re still getting paid, I wouldn’t feel to bad, I’ve been on jobs, where I’ve sat for hours, doing nothing, but looking at KZbin, getting paid, makes for a better profit day
@huggy171217 күн бұрын
I do agree with you on this if you watch Pepe’s towing I have watched them lift massive loads with a 75 ton rotator most likely the operator did not feel comfortable lifting this load alone who know
@chrisgabaldon661416 күн бұрын
Yes, sir it all pays the same to me. My job is to pick up and deliver it. Everyone else’s job to figure out how to get that broke down crap on my trailer without screwing up my trailer lol

Not to be rude but does no one have a clue ……it’s not going to roll you have to pull the final drives…
@Qtip21818 күн бұрын
Don’t really blame the lowboy driver but the wrecker guy should have a clue 1mill+ truck 75 ton capacity and he can’t figure out how to get a 35 ton machine onto a trailer he should park the truck and quit

@@Qtip218 they did pull the drives one side with free roll, but for some reason, the other side would not
