Hey there, Cookingbomb fans! Today, I'm going to reveal a secret that's kept my 17-year-old pickle jar and its delicious brine alive and kicking. You see, I recently had to leave home for two whole months, and if the water seal around the jar evaporated, it could spell disaster for my beloved pickle brine. But fear not, because I've got a clever trick up my sleeve: using oil to seal the jar! h, and I even set up a Ring camera to watch over my jars, just in case I needed to call in a neighbor for a pickle rescue! 😄

How do you keep the bottom so clean of sediment? The bacteria that eventually die off settle and I always end up restarting my ferments?

Why you said be careful about the oil but you didn't put any oil in the sealing so from where the old came from the beginning?

pickle brines like those are usually just added on. take old vegetables out, replace with new, add sugar, vodka and peppercorns. my family used to have one that goes back at least a generation, but it went bad

It’s continuous! The pickle brine has been in there for 17 years without starting over.

@@purpleblackberries6850No, that’s not how it works. You never take the pickle brine out and wash the jar. The bad bacteria is killed by the acidic conditions and garlic and whatnot. If your pickle brine’s seal goes dry it will go bad. It could probably also go bad from neglect (not adding ingredients)
