Shame on the people who did this to you!! It sure would be satisfying to go to their houses and make a list of all the zoning violations on their properties and then submit that list so they have to go through what you're going through😁

Regulations will ultimately kill the spirit that made this once great country thrive. Don't let these poor practices get you down. Instead, I would recommend someone like you build a strategic plan to run for local government. Be part of the solution to fix this situation for future generations. We need more of US in policy making positions.

That was entertaining! The most crucial part of taking on projects like this, is having the self-confidence to know you can solve the problems as they arise. Like, switching to the persuader (aka sledgehammer) or using tung oil to lube a big rod. 🤣

Years ago when I was going thriugh Architecture class our teacher told us "make sure that the house you are designing and going to build for the client actually goes on their property". Many times houses are built on the wrong property. That is a lesson I have carried all through my career.

This is a valuable lesson for a future homesteader.. DON'T FALL IN LOVE WITH THE PROPERTY UNTIL!!! Make sure you do you homework. Investigate all of the town/states regulations before purchasing your off grid or even on grid property. Make sue you can perform all of the present and especially future tasks/plans you have for structures and land. Best wishes my friend.

I agree. Where I'm living you are not allowed to live, and especially off grid. Which is how I'm living. They gave me 24 hours to remove my animals & their "evidence of existance," i.e. fencing, feeding managers, water troughs, etc. And they harass me often about my truck & motorhome. I'm glad you were able to move your stuff. And that you had another property to move it to. I don't, so I'm doing what I can do.

I feel so bad for you Kevin. You' and your wife are good people. You worked so hard building on YOUR land, then some town flunky says tear it down?! Who the hell do they think the are? We've got these "little Hitlers" over here in Massachusetts too. A few years back, an old lady up the street from me wanted to sell her field . The town "fathers" said NOPE! You can't because the frontage of the property was THREE FEET short!.... and they wouldn't allow anyone to build on it. She sold her house and her field and moved to Maine. Shortly thereafter the person WHO HAD FAMILY on the town board, bought the old lady's property, and immediately built a house in the field !!! They stopped a good hardworking American family from building, pushed her off her own property ! Then let their criminal buddies build on the very same land !!! I have a dozen stories just like this one that proves these people have no conscience, or empathy for anyone but their own "families" once they get in power. In short, they suck! Haven't we all taken enough?

Life isn’t improved by such bureaucracy, it’s just power to the wealthy.
