Leaving paradise: how Hawaii is trying to relocate Maui survivors

On this channel we report on real news untainted by the corporate media powers that promote their special interests.
Today I cover some of the attempts to relocate Maui fire survivors; from the Red Cross and FEMA evicting fire survivors from hotels, as well as Governor Green cutting off food to survivors, which are BOTH happening on a June 10th deadline. I also cover how the regional Red Cross CEO was terminated in retaliation for speaking up about Red Cross encouraging survivors to leave the island. Governor Green has also partnered with Alaska Airlines to give 3,000 free flights to Maui fire survivors, in what appears to be a thinly veiled attempt to encourage them to relocate.

For a survior who may have lost everything (home, job, business, or a loved one), a free trip is not an option let alone something one has in mind to do. It's sad. But at the same time, the economic circumstances in Maui or Hawaii were an issue prior. Most folks can't sustain the rate of living there. Waiting it out for a long-period of time for the government to help may not be in everyone's best interest. Until someone can tell me how they can improve the economic situation in Hawaii outside of tourism and hospitality, you can expect that most people will have no choice but to move. I lived in Maui for 2.5 years. Most recently, in the Napili-Honokowai area. I got my family off the island a few weeks after the fire. With all due respect, sometimes you got to do what's best for you and your family to be safe and secure. My prayers go out to those affected. 🙏🏾

This was an obvious CRIME, and it is continuing to be so, ever more blatant as time passes-- now kicking people out of shelters, stopping food AND offering them a ticket off the island-- the timing is SOOOO obvious that the intent is to get rid of the victims, one wat or the other. David, that was my initial thought! They try to go home and the Alaskan Airplane employee tells the family, “This has been changed to a one-way ticket.” How sad. The pictures of the people wearing leis happy they could send people to Disney…my stomach turned. This does not surprise me one bit government housing is horrible I was in it for two years and I will live on the street before renting from them ever again. My heart goes out to those that may have to take this offer. You have to deal with so many weirdos and addicts it's not worth the money you save. I am fine now and back at my old place which my son kept up while I was at my *low income* housing.I have an angel as a landlord my share of the rent is $475 he charges my son and I $950 but he could get $1595 plus he pays $300 a month to HOA so what is he really making off us? $650! Few people had any type of insurance on their Houses, belongings and cars. Over 90% of the displaced were renters. Now they have no home, no car, no job. How do taxpayers rectify that? This is an isolated island. It will take decades to rebuild the thousands of destroyed structures. And if you don’t live on the west side, ad Two Hours minimum for your daily commute and always plan on sleeping on the beach, mid way home when there is a accident on the only road.

Disagree, Hara didn't delay military response. In this country (USA), the receipent county/state must request military support and until that request is made, the military can not intervene anywhere even for a humanitarian cause. Even FEMA cannot fly into hawaii without a prior request. Alaska Air is paying for the trips for maui evacuees, even the hotel portion. I guess evil must exist in the gesture because I've never heard a single thank you for Alaska Air.
