This video is my personal experience of why I left Christianity, and why religion wasn't right for me. Everyone has a right to do what's best for him/ her.

I’m a medical doctor who went to seminary and started learning the facts. They’re overwhelming. We actually had people who dropped out cause they couldn’t deal with it and ran back to their fairytales. They’re lost of ways to go with your awakening. The only thing I can say is welcome to freedom. Glad you found your way of the cadge!

So its freedom to not believe in creation or to believe in Jesus. Really. It seems freedom without God but in the back of your mind you will always think it could be true. It will haunt you for the rest of your life. When you become christian, and then you leave, its worse then when you never believed. I have done both. Been a believer and not one. Its like watching a movie that is the best movie you have ever seen, that you have been watching sequels for years. But then all of a sudden you say i am not going cinema anymore because i do not like going cinema. Theres no freedom in that.

Finding out that it was all fake was the worst thing that ever happened to me in a way. I’m only a few months in to deconstructing/deconverting, but it hit me hard. I’m still in the closet. Everyone around still think I believe. I was a minister and Christian leader in my community for about a solid 4 years. I’m only 25 now, but I was raised in the church and legitimately thought the biblical narrative was the true and only way since I was 17. I molded my entire life around the faith and missed out on so many life experiences trying to be holy and please God. Now I feel so behind in life. I was so serious about the faith and now I have to find a new community and shape a new identity.

My guy no way you read the bible and understand the time of history it was in and think no way you must have gotten your own interpretation not who's letter you read or gospel you read or book just your head. Hey women are created in the image of god and when the bible speaks on MAN it speaks on both Men and woMEN my guy Ima refute what you said with these questions. Who where the first to see jesus? Why where women created in the image of god? Why does the bible when speaking in godly women speak so profoundly? Idk where you gotten this info but not scriptural at all study history learn the time period it was in and you will women rights and equality is written all over it. Please read like you read any other book READ IN CONTEXT please not that hard. Btw fairytales that people died to cover up wow people who followed christ for what they saw not a belief WHAT THEY SAW and they wrote on it when they where dying. Show me a time someone die for a lie they know is true. So this "fairytale" has gone around the world and is the most sold book and leaves all else in the dust btw following christ not christianity christ because if you read religous hypocrites jesus had the harshest word for them? It was directly attacked in scripture. Also, jesus christ was not just written by the gospels also by roman historians, and jewish pharisees all talking on his tomb being EMPTY historically. So I guess people got his body and hid it then then died for it or it is true that jesus taught died and resurrected. Last issue hell torment forever is death forever it's not existence it death as in you are destroyed in hell and god promises that all will accept and now the knee to there reward as in all will be convinced on what they got heaven, or hell.

Is Jesus not what a perfect, loving God would appear as? Obviously He is God. He spent His whole ministry proving it, and instead of becoming king, he suffered and died to prove His love. Your sins and pride are not worth forsaking Jesus.

I've listened to about twenty people's leaving the the church or Christianity. I realize that many were #1 taught wrong, #2 many were not aware that their were two churches, a. Their is the corporate churches that Christ set up for a time and b. In these churches their were two groups of peoples, 1. The wheat and the tares or better said the true belivers and the people who think they were saved.. # 3. We are at the time where the true belivers are being told by God to leave these churches because Jesus is no longer using them and that judgement has begun with them, please read 1stPeter 4:17 and Matthew 24:15 and 2ndThesalonions 2-1-12. When you read these verses and more, you may want to reconsider, because there is a difference between the corporate church and God and the true belivers that are called out. When I was 11 I decided to read the o bible on my own cover to cover. I was told by peers that it was dangerous to do that and that I need a guidance from a seasoned adult and special prayers in order to understand it. But I started reading anyway. And I soon read up on some of the most barbaric illogical and plain stupid stuff attributed to a supposedly omniscient God. That did it for me right there. My family from Ghana and I grew up in Wales. We were the only African type people in the whole town. So I always had an independent thinking attitude. I never relied on "community" or friends or touchy feely stuff. From an early age I realized I would have to apply my brain to discern and figure out the realities of this world. Not friends groups or communities. It served me well. I went on to complete 3 higher degrees while the so called better people ended up with major failures.

To any Christian here How do we know that christianity is the only true way. Is it by faith or by personal experience (evidence)? If it is only by faith how did we choose the Christian faith/ belief system over something else. Did we use logic/facts/signs to compare & decide or did we just believe? Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. On the other hand If it is by personal experience, the following verses seems to suggest faith over experience. Hebrew 11:1 ,Heb 11:16 without faith you cannot please God. John 20:29 Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed. I lost faith seeing Charismatic Tele Evangelists prophesying about 2nd term for Trump and utterly failing. None of them where able to prophesy about the Pandemic. Not even one healing Ministry publicly healing Covid Patients. In the Bible we read about how the prophet Elijah prayed and brought rain. But nowadays when I see Tele Evangelists pray for covid, they look exactly like how the bible describes the prophets of Baal..

@@sujayedwin3888 sir by evidence and the historical resurrection of christ that's how you come to faith in christ is understanding jesus really taught, died and rose from the dead. Furthermore, faith is something we all have and there is a difference between blind faith and faith. Here it is blind faith is a belief made on no evidence. Faith is a belief or assumption based on evidence.for example law of gravity something always falls it never failed in the past based on that evidence we conclude that it is a never changing law but it is a assumption based on evidence.Hope I answered your question my brother If you haven't walked and put your faith in christ you should because, he rose showing there Is life after death.

I could relate to so many things you said. Especially how women are demonized, are told they're unclean, less than men. Its because there was so much humans didn't know, and they can't admit it now. How come we were never honored for being able to conceive life within us , nuture it, and bring it into the world? I can't relate to the blaming of Eve, our sinfulness and hell, either. I really enjoyed your video. You asked if we could provide our own "testimony" - so here goes... My own experience (quick-ish version) was that I grew up in the church as a sincere believer since I was a kid. Went to church every Sunday, youth group on Friday nights, studied the Bible all the time, played on worship teams and "witnessed" whenever I had the opportunity. Later I went to Bible college, considering a path into full-time ministry. Years after Bible college, a devout Christian friend of mine announced he was no longer a Christian. I couldn't believe it. I made a point of finding out what happened, because I cared about him. Basically, in his studies of Christian origins and apologetics, he just came to a point where he felt that just couldn't hold onto belief anymore. The facts led him to the conclusion that Christianity wasn't actually true. I decided that I would look into this more deeply myself to see if I couldn't help him somehow (but also tried to keep an open mind that I could be wrong about my own faith, or even just some aspect of it). I studied for hundreds, maybe thousands of hours, diving into Christian apologetics and arguments for/against Christianity. I remember after a while into my studies, a big "a-ha" moment came when I realized that all my life I had begun with the conclusion that Christianity was true, and then shoehorned the evidence to fit that conclusion. I realized that's completely backwards. A sincere investigation into the truth should start WITHOUT any conclusions, but rather with an unbiased review of the evidence (for and against). Then you let the evidence lead you toward the best explanation of that evidence. That realization led me to hold more "liberal" doctrines for a time, but after continued studying, I just realized that Christian belief wasn't tenable for me anymore, and my faith in it sort of evaporated. I thought that this "journey out" would lead me into despair but I've felt more mentally free than I ever had before. I can think for myself without the baggage of superstition and unfounded doctrines of ancient religions, and I feel more connected to humanity. I hope this era of access to more information/content about this subject at least makes people take a hard an honest look at their own beliefs, and at least revise their thinking in accordance with the evidence.

Wow ... thanks for sharing this. My own path was longer. I always had doubts, but went along passively for decades. A few years ago, I saw christians constantly contradict themselves, make excuses repeatedly, ... As a scientist, I started applying the scientific method to beliefs. I started watching atheists/believers debates, started to dig deeper into ancient civilizations, church history, listen to evidences on both sides ... And the conclusion was quick and swift.

I’m so happy to come across your video. For me I was born and raised and truly believed for 20 years. Very active in the choir and praise dance. Was at the church from Wednesday-Sunday. Bible study, choir practice, praise dance, Saturday street whitenessing, Sunday school, etc. I moved to another by myself for college and carried this belief. My manager at my job and I become really close. She would cook for me during the times I had no groceries. She really opens her home to me. But she was gay. So I struggled with how this person who opened her home and gave to me during my time of struggle was destined to hell simple because she loved another women. That’s what lead my journey down the rabbit hole. Then I questioned about how someone who was raised to believe in Islam was going to hell when they didn’t have a choice to believe those things from childhood. Then I asked well what about all the people who came before Jesus. They never got a chance to say they believe in Jesus…did they go to hell? The entire concept of hell made no sense. Then it got to be if god created all things then why don’t we acknowledge him as the creator of sin. The concept of sin and the punishment for it was created by god.

It strikes me as odd that, on the one hand, they tell you that if you earnestly seek him, he'll make himself known, but when you say that you've earnestly sought, prayed, fasted, cried out, etc. and got no answers, they say it's your fault or they say that God isn't beholden to show himself to us or give us any signs. Thanks for your honesty. For me it was the list of "Do's and Don'ts" that made me feel inadequate and further away from God. Finally I decided to leave church, not saying everyone should, but I needed to be uninfluenced and sort myself out. What I found is that religion says "Fix yourself and God/we will accept you" while the Gospel is supposed to be "Come just as you are and I will give you righteousness as a gift". Religion says "You have to work hard to stay forgiven and right" while the true Gospel is supposed to be: "With a single sacrifice I have made you perfectly accepted and irreversibly forgiven forever". Religion says "God is in love with a future version of you" while the Gospel of Grace is supposed to be: "God loves you as you are right now unconditionally and is NEVER GOING TO CHANGE". I wish this video was longer. My partner may leave me because I'm an atheist. Theres alot of slander against non believers in the bible, we are portrayed as stone hearted at best, unwise fools who say to themselves there is no God. The bible, and particularly Jesus is very divisive. He himself said as much, this is why people are willing to give up real relationships for something they have no proof of. But then again like you said, if one relies on faith then logic and reason simply become superfluous and naive. I hope my relationship survives, and thank you for this video!

Thank you for courageously sharing your story. I am in the beginning stages of all this. Everything started to fall apart for me with the Evangelical support of Donald Trump. I just couldn't see how Christians could support such an immoral person. This led me to the many inconsistentencies in the Bible. I am currently in the closet with all this because my friends and family would never understand.

God says "man is nothing, and a fool trusts in him". You are trusting in man by allowing the folly of man trusting in man to get in the way of your faith in God. There are no inconsistencies that I've found in the Bible. God is sovereign, His ways are not your ways. If you seek knowledge, ask him. Jesus was frustrated with religion too, was He not? He still walked to the cross to save you.

That was an eye-opener for me too. I actually took off my cross while my so-called Christian, Trump-supporting friends, started wearing more brazen displays of crosses on their ears, around their necks, etc. Not only did they claim the flag as Patriots (traitors) but also the cross as they turned it upside down. Jesus is in my HEART and my patriotism is in small unselfish acts for my community!

@@bhumble8429 That’s not what atheism is. You seem to think atheism has some “motto”. It doesn’t. Atheism is not believing in a god or god(s). As for our views on life, that differs among every individual. The one thing that all atheists are guaranteed to have in common is not believing in a god. Nothing else. Our views on life, morality, empathy, religion, etc. are all individual.

@@ooduckoo read above okay God bless your hardened heart. Also atheism is summed up do what you want if you want to follow morality go ahead because that choice is made by you a person just dancing to his dna a walking bag of chemicals just reacting to his impulse. Morality not real its just a made up concept making it relative. Yes atheism is do what shalt wilt because you want to follow made up morals go ahead. You want hate someone go ahead . You want to break your made up morals go ahead you want to follow them go ahead. Its all relative you live to die all things are vanity end of the day you and Adolf Hitler have the same ending in atheism death. Your life is controlled by time,and chance you don't know if what you plan is going to occur and if it does you can't take it to the grave and give it time what you have done will go away and be forgotten. Its all vanity truly. Here is the reality of the matter there is a after life proven by Jesus who rose from The dead making his teaching credible and him the truth. There is a consequences to your wrongs and because there is a absolute wrong and right and Jesus said in REVELATION 2:23 he will render to all there deeds. What you sow you shall reap you know galatians 6:7-10. Truly your choice if you affirm life you will care if you live forever in love with your creator or you will suffer the wrath of your creator because of your sins. Your choice heaven or hell. Repent meaning turn from your sins or you will suffer his wrath meaning you will perish. Meaning you will suffer the worst pain imaginable in the lake of fire than you will not exist anymore. I hope you affirm life enough to care about that because since Jesus is the truth you die its just a transition to judgment day. If God chooses to end your life he is either punishing a sinner or preserving someone for heaven. If we do it know that is sinful because we are not the creator of all things. God loves you and created you to love. In order for love to be true it has to be a free choice. You have a free will to choose God or not. There is consequences to that choice but yeah. Also don't look at a anamoly like people who don't have the bible to justify your spot the bible says much given much required and less given more taken. Summarized in romans 2:15 you conscience as in what you know will excuse you or accuse you on judgment day. God bless you.

@@ooduckoo sir this is from another thread okay copied so some statements are not directed towards you just look for the historical facts and overall truth of what im trying to shed light on. @• @insignificanteffigy 1st statement makes no since because by your standard of forcing beliefs your forcing a belief on me that I shouldn't force a belief. Even though what I'm doing is just speaking to you on the internet I have no gun pointed at you. I mean seriously bro what are you saying im just speaking the truth Jesus historically rose from the dead you can deny history ofc most atheist are very close minded and illogical. I've yet see someone show evidence for atheism. Science can't be evidence btw because science the act of science takes faith in the world being rationally made and the universe having constants. Also that the person obtaining the information mind is rationally made to the point he can comprehend the knowledge. Science in itself takes faith in God. Also Jesus empty tomb and ministry has 42 writings on it 9 secular. The 42 writings all written in historical narrative. Historical fiction came about in the 19th century didnt exist back than. You can prove Jesus resserected historically by using test on the gospels and writing on Jesus by 9 historians in Rome to name a few: Josephus, tacitus, suetonis, etc... 1. Test archeological evidence, manuscript evidence, literary style, credibility. The gospels pass with flying colors. Manuscript evidence 25,000 manuscripts matching within 99% accuracy Archeological evidence to name few places spoken in the gospels: bethelhem, Judea, Jerusalem, the sea of Galilee, Egypt all the places in the bible that are said are verifiable. Making it speaking about events in real world areas..etc... They wrote in historical narrative not in mythological, or wrote as if a epic poem. It was historical literature. Few verses although there so many but in luke 1:1, luke 3:1 are both in historical narrative. Credibility of the author all of them where reviled and persecuted for their claim of the dead christ rising gaining nothing from what they claimed and wrote. making the testimony credible. also, Many times they choose truth over shifting details to make them look better. Example: Peter denied christ three times. They wrote that down women first to see Jesus back than they couldn't even testify. In conclusion the authors are credible due to them gaining nothing but death and persecution and modern psychology shows people don't die for a lie knowing it to be a lie. People don't die for firsthand testimony gaining nothing from it. People may die for second hand testimony but not firsthand while gaining nothing from it. Historically Jesus rose from the dead you denying him will be like me denying Alexander the Great existed, or George Washington was inaugurated as the first president. Also 230 prophecies fulfilled in the bible telling historical events. Here is one look up the statue of babylon or the statue of Daniel. Tells the order of the kingdoms in Rome and how Rome is right know. Science testifies for God's existence the amount of complex design in the universe and in your DNA points to a mind. Your DNA must have a pont of origin of information the genetic genome has never been shown to be able to add on new information. Not once ever have we seen a genetic mutation add new information to the genome. That is off topic though the amount of compact information in DNA shows there to be a creator because when we look at the world and see compact information in buildings or in sand or engraved in walls we automatically logically conclude a mind is behind that. The big bang theory the mathematics behind it showing there to be a beginning in the universe. Show that there has to be a uncaused cause of the universe and that uncaused cause is God shown in the bible is the uncaused cause. Psalms 14:1 Only a fool says in his heart there is no God im sure you don't live that out as if all is relative to the human mind and that we are just dancing to our dna and chemical reactions. That means it don't matter if I kill you or give you money its equally the same nothing good nothing bad because no God all is relative to the mind. You can't live that out. You can reject God just know he is just and will reject you also You can reject God just know you have no remission for your sins and when you die God will judge you righteously. He will reject you on the day of judgment when he comes in justice and righteousness at first he came with mercy and truth to shoe the world. The second time he is coming with fire and brimstone in righteousness and truth eliminating sin once and for all and for those that have put their faith in him and have confessed and forsook their sin proverbs 28:13. Repent or perish You choose life or death. Etrnal life or a painful death above anything that you can comprehend worse than any death on this planet. God loves you but hates sin and will come and end all sin and all those who attached and became slaves of sin. You truly don't comprehend how good God is to you. Your walking right now everyday you walk everyday you wake up his mercies are new lamentations 3:22-23 because once you sin you condemn yourself. Ofc if you repent which means confess your sins to God and forsake them. You will be forgiven. Truly God loves you alot he died for you so you can repent and put your faith in him and be saved. You reject his love not because of evidence but because he testifies against your evil works and you hate that and will look for anything to deny him. John 7:7 Last point life is meaningless in atheism because your life is a mistake and your death is a mistake and through your life all you do is relative nothing right nothing wrong. Making it meaningless Hey but you want to reject God live a subjective and utterly meaningless life than die and be judged by a just God that will show you all your deeds that you did in darkness every thought that you had that was evil every curse or evil word tou have said, and than be condemned to hell because you rejected him and that you have sinned throughout your life and suffer the second death that will be worse than any death that you can experience on earth revelation 20:13-15. When God judges btw like any judge he judges the crime you have committed not the good deeds you've done. Your good deeds are filthy rags to god mine to anyone deeds is. Matthew 12:33-37, matthew 16:22-26, galatians 6:7-10, matthew 13 etc... God bless you sir repent or perish

Thanks so much for your honesty. For me it was the list of "Do's and Don'ts" that made me feel inadequate and further away from God. Finally I decided to leave church, not saying everyone should, but I needed to be uninfluenced and started studying the New Covenant on my own. See in the beginning I was sold out on the unconditional love and safety in the Saviour. Although having good intentions, when churches preach law it becomes a whole legalistic religious organization that robs us of our true identity and freedom that we are supposed to have. What I found is that religion says "Fix yourself and God/we will accept you" while the original Gospel says "Come just as you are and I will give you righteousness/(okayness) as a gift". Religion says "You have to work hard to stay forgiven and right" while the true Gospel says "With a single sacrifice I have made you perfectly accepted and irreversibly forgiven for ever". Religion says "You have to work to get close to God" the Gospel says "You cant get closer to your Father as He is in you and you are in Him". Religion says "God is in love with a future version of you" while the Gospel of Grace says "Dad loves you as you are right now unconditionally and is NEVER GOING TO CHANGE in this irreversibly restored relationship". Religion says "You are not good enough" and the true Gospel of Grace says "You are fully accepted, with a new heart which is righteous, holy and blameless. That's your identity, now live from your heart and be yourself". Religion is a bunch of rules to follow as a prerequisite to acceptance versus the Gospel of Grace providing immediate irreversible acceptance which will produce the "works"/performance over time, but our performance is SECONDARY to the "Work Christ did". This reveals a bit of what I found please see this link for more: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHnbk417rMebfsk This is 8 years later, if the true Gospel was preached people will break down the doors to get the Good News. In the mean-time I started a small bible study group where everyone is on the same level and unconditionally accepted, where everyone's opinion is valid and important. I guess guarding against the infiltration of religion is ongoing.. God's love. Nicolas

And they can’t respectfully leave u alone. Like bruh I don’t believe in ur god just leave it be. Leaving Christianity was honestly the best thing I’ve ever done. I have been in a deep sadness as I am going through this and your experience with that fine Christian "love" is just like mine. Rather than love on me and ask if they can be with me or help, they leave. 😢 I am feeling like I have been in a bad anxiety situation all my life because I am such a sinner and never will be clean, unless I allow a Jewish nomad to give me faith in him. I can't have faith on my own, if I do anything good it's God in me not myself. This belief system has been so hurtful. My family members became mentally ill because of the terrible anxiety that Christianity caused. I have so much angst about this but I can't imagine not using my mind to ask logical questions. I’m so glad I came across your videos. I deconverted and deconstructed from Christianity almost a year ago, at 44 years old. Looking back, I’ve always questioned some things and would ask about things that didn’t make sense. I was encouraged to “have faith” so I did. I know now that my “faith” was just what I did when things didn’t make sense. I would just go along with whatever it was and I would pick and choose what I wanted to believe. I never accepted the idea of hell. It was too hard to reconcile a loving god with one so full of the hate required to eternally torment so I just decided hell can’t be real. God couldn’t be both loving and sadistic so I just decided not to accept the hell idea. I did things like this throughout my “Christian walk”, believing what felt right to me, ignoring or rejecting what didn’t. I went through moments where I knew I wasn’t feeling what others felt so I started reading the Bible more, in search of what I felt was missing in my life. I only found more questions and more things that revealed god was an evil character. I wasn’t ready to accept that and I was encouraged to “have faith” so I stopped reading the Bible as much and went on doing things for my church. Last year I finally got to the point where I gave myself permission to dive deep into my questions and no longer ignore the answers. I told myself that if god is real and all knowing then he knows I’m questioning and that I’m seeking more and he can give me more if he wanted to. I read my Bible more and started writing down questions, no matter what, open to wherever the journey took me. I couldn’t get passed genesis 3 before concluding the whole book is written by man, in the image of man with absolutely no divine inspiration. For a moment I was devastated and broke down crying. Not because of the loss of god. I was glad to be rid of god but I was devastated by what this would mean for my marriage. I loved my husband but he’s very heavily into Christianity. We’re still working things out. Some days are good, some aren’t. But I’ve never regretted freeing myself from religion. It’s just not real and it’s liberating no longer having to go along with it.

I've been raised in a Christian environment and have been (what it called) a "true" Christian for over 20 years. I have, for a long time, experienced cognitive dissonance about some things but, as of late, the things I am questioning have begun to increase and it's tough to not really be able to share with the people around you b/c you know they won't understand or will possibly turn their backs on you. For now, I'll just keep my doubts and questions between me and God...

I've realized that religion is stories and delusions from a time in human history when people were not able to understand the world. It is still passed on from parents to children, because evolution has favored children believing, in order to survive, what their elders tell them. Hopefully, someday human beings can grow out of needing to teach our children false stories. While we may not understand why the world is here, we can understand that we're the lucky ones; we get to live. There are so many people in the world who love and accept others. We don't need religion to be good people, and we can have understanding for those who are captured by the delusions of religion. We can stand for their release - not make them wrong - just stand for their finding freedom, too.

Just watched this video and I've read some of the comments. I became a non believer about 28 years ago. No big thing here in the UK (unless you're a Muslim) and I just got on with my life. Now, thanks to the internet and media like KZbin I'm becoming increasingly angry and anti-theist. The damage which religion does to people is a disgrace and it's time to stand up and speak out against this made up nonsense. I now study the Bible and religion a lot more than I ever did when I was a Christian. When I have discussions/arguments with believers I want them to realise that I actually know what they believe and why. Sometimes it's amazing to see them gradually realise that I'm the complete opposite to conversion material. As you can see, you are far from alone. I feel so sad when some ex believers have such a rough time. So much for reflecting the love of God! The Bible: If the Bible is God's guidebook why is it so difficult to work out the will of God? Why didn't God tell us about microbes and basic sanitation? Why didn't he give us the Commandment: Thou shalt not own another person? Why is it OK to rape young women but it's not OK to practice homosexuality? Why are women regarded as property? The list is endless! Wasn't it Steven Weinberg who said that: "Good people do good things, bad people do bad things, but it takes religion to make good people do bad things."? Stay safe and, to repeat myself, you are not alone! Far, far from it!

The quote you wrote there reminded me of the interaction I had with my home care worker who said "I don't do things for you, I do things for God!" That was the worst thing I think I ever heard her say! The last thing I want as a disabled woman to hear is that they don't do things for me.

My heart goes out to you. I had the same wrenching experience in my early twenties of losing my faith and feeling lost. Luckily I usually lived in urban areas, and my family members were lukewarm about religion, half admitting that they were observant because of social pressure. Your former friends have to reject you because they don’t want to deal with your reasons, and probably they are not able to. “Just pray for faith” is what they say, right? That sounds so lame now! You are quite right about the Bible’s view of women. It just reflects the culture of the ancient Near East. Oh, and blaming Eve for everything-what I was taught added insult to injury. Yes, Eve let the snake tempt her and then in her turn she led Adam astray. But it was Adam’s sin that caused the Fall, not Eve’s, because he and not Eve was the head of the human race. Moreover, they are not our first parents. Science has found it isn’t possible for one couple to give rise to an entire species. Good news! We are NOT descended from incestuous matings among Adam and Eve’s sons and daughters!

If you knew your BIble you would know that it forbids us to put God to the test, and that he will not respond to anyone who tries to do this. He is also unmoved by fasting. As it says in Micah " And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God". All that is required is that we humbly accept the love and mercy Jesus demonstrated on the cross and receive the forgiveness he purchased for us. In that alone can we find true freedom.

I was an Evangelical Worship Leader and My faith deconstructed too. I know how it feels when your entire world view is turned upside down and the higher power you relied on and had a personal relationship with was more or less imaginary. I totally understand and you are not alone. Our lives have as much meaning as we want them to with or without religious ritual. Christianity always made me feel less than, but understanding now that we all have worth and there never was original sin is totally better than the “born again” experience. I’m happy I deconstructed. The truth is always better than lies. Hang in there and know you have a community.

Thanks so much for your honesty. For me it was the list of "Do's and Don'ts" that made me feel inadequate and further away from God. I read other things such as Michael Newton’s past an between life regression, Anita moorjani book about her near death experience. I have also had spiritual experiences one of which where I talked to my dead uncle an never told me I had to believe any which way. I don’t like any of the Abrahamic religions cause they practice exclusivism which is just what you stated “if you don’t think their way your pushed out”. It’s fear based. I took an world religions class at my community college an found the eastern religions (we are western) practice inclusivism an pluralism which in short means they are much more accepting of other religions an beliefs so if I was religious I would be one of them but I use the term agnostic. I think there is something after this but not sure what an I kinda of believe in reincarnation.

@MrMadcow44
@MrMadcow44 2 жыл бұрын
@@BenVanCamp 2+2 = 4 can be demonstrated which makes it objective data. Your god claim hasn’t been demonstrated therefore it’s subjective just like every other religion. Claims need to be demonstrated before you assert truth. Also Christianity and other abrahamic religions are exclusive meaning if you don’t believe in Jesus, Allah, or Yahweh, you are excluded and told the punishment is hell in most cases. A good example of that is the way you’re trying to exclude me in your reply because I’m agnostic. You’re unaccepting of me because I claim not to know the truth of reality (agnostic) and trying to in-force your belief of reality on to me as if it’s objective data. Now there are radicals in every religion but my point is people of eastern world religions are much more accepting of beliefs different from their own making them inclusive (meaning my religion is mostly true and some truth outside of that so you’re included) or pluralistic (meaning my religion is not absolute truth and there is a little truth in every belief system so you’re included). If you go to an eastern world religion such as Hinduism and tell them you’re a Christian most of the time they will still include you and accept you.
