Hahaha²!!! Paul! I saw so much of my own bad behavior in your example I had to shake my head. I complain to my Filipino BF all the time about conditions in the Philippines, over which he has no control or responsibility for. I needed to see this video!

The scene of the boat from the hotel to the van was a perfect symbol of my experience of the Philippines. Terrible infrastructure, poor drainage, crazy weather all shrugged off by resilient people who know how to make things work with whatever is available. And they have fun and laugh while getting the job done despite the problems. It's been too long since I've been there. Looking forward to my visit in January, hope we cross paths.

Great stuff, as always. Mae, you look fabulous in this installment, and I love your evolving sense of style. Yes, we definitely want a couple of months' worth of Thailand stories! I think many of your viewers are looking forward to your impressions of the contrasts and comparisons between the two cultures and told from each of your unique individual perspectives. Can't wait!

Omg! Paul and Mae !! This is my first comment and first sub from my new channel from ( Sam J0nes) !! What a freakin’ stressful with a fun adventure with disasters here and there from Phuket to Manila! I’m so glad you made it safe back home now. It’s more fun in the Philippines riding that cool homemade boats in Manila plus the warmth and hospitality of my countrymen. The bayanihan spirit was alive lifting you from your hotel to Manila airport. Thank goodness to be seeing you both smiling now. I was worried not seeing any new uploads from your channel and Mae. Looking forward to hearing your adventures from Phuket and the plans ahead !!

I enjoyed the video and BabyMae's pre banana boat ride. That event exemplifies my experiences in Phils because Filipinos are able to adapt with a good attitude to whatever it takes to accomplish the goal as a people (group). and actually laugh! It always felt and still seems that there Time is only a suggestion dependent on nature and structure or lack of.///Whatever you guys feel like sharing seems to be interesting and sometimes comical after the event. Sort of seems like a trip from 1966 and not 2022 lol.

I found it easier traveling to and from the Philippines if I did it by myself. I went the first time with a Filipino friend who was working here in Canada. I promised to pay his way if he came with me. It turned out that HE was the most stressful part of my trip haha. It was through him that I learned how Filipinos have a casual relationship with time. I want to be at an airport at least 2 hours before take-off. If I hadn't nagged and argued with him I know for certain we would have missed two flights. I made two more trips to the Philippines traveling by myself and there wasn't a single problem. Mind you, this was before the pandemic years. If I go again it'll be after ALL restrictions are lifted. I'll be 65 next February and I have more anxiety than I did before, so maybe I'll give in and travel with an expat Filipino again. If I bypass the Philippines I'll sign up for a seniors tour going somewhere else and let more capable people handle ALL the details. Nowadays singles can wander away from the tour group for the day and spend more time doing something they're more interested in, like spending most of the day at a museum or just people-watching at a local cafe in a beautiful neighborhood (looking at you Paris, Copenhagen, Berlin). I still think about finding a Filipino partner (I had one and now we're separated and eventually will be divorced). Now that I know so many more things about the Philippines and their cultural idiocyncrasies I'm not sure I want to settle there now, and I definitely don't want to bring one to Canada. Maybe it's ageing, but I'm just not as lonely as I used to be; at least not so lonely that I need a whole lot of aggravation back in my life. I've fulfilled most of my travel dreams. The three cities I wanted to visit in the U.S. - New York, Washington D.C. and San Francisco - Done! South-East Asia - Thailand, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea - Done! Got married in and toured around it - Auckland, New Zealand - Done! Three long vacations to Great Britain - Done! My last dream is mainland Europe, preferably far from Putin's savagery.

Some fun facts about my first trip back to the Philippines from Thailand in August 2022.: Flying Philippine Airlines BKK - MNL. PAirlines gives you more baggage allowance for free on International flights than the Low Cost Airlines. You also get free full inflight meal. I think the baggage allowance is 33 kilos. However you have to go thru immigration and pickup bags BEFORE transfer to Domestic Flights. Due to the frequency into General Santos I had an early AM departure which got delayed 3 hours making about 7 hour layover with little sleep in past 24 hours. The domestic segment only allows 10 kilos so upon check in at Manila had to pay 800 peso for overweight baggage. The flight to General Santos was on a Boeing 777 ER, which is used for long haul flights. The best food at Manila Airport is in Terminal 3. P Airlines is Terminal 2 & other Intl travel is Terminal 1. They have a free bus shuttle between all three terminals, but you should show or say your connecting flight. I was at T2 but needed to catch bus to Angeles City at T3. I got on without any documents for flight at T3, but I was lucky. Coming back from General Santos they had the worldwide airline database computer fail. Lucky for me I was going to Angeles City by bus. Outside There were lines waiting to get past security checks as far as the eye could see. It easily was the entire length of the building. So for Southeast Asia air travel prepare for delays and the unexpected. Post Covid is really not fully geared for airline frequency and documents are still necessary line the newly updated E Travel card done online. Tip: With Taxi service in Manila. Never get out of the vehicle BEFORE the driver. There have been reports that taxis couldl drive off with your luggage. Welcome Home ✝️
