There are two two-way streets going downhill through Presido Park. The city could make it a one way loop for cars and switch one of the lanes on Presidio Dr to a two lane bike path and it would cost them almost nothing.

Wish this and the Jackson/Cosoy circle could be one way each. That would leave room for both bikes and pedestrians to get through this park safely. Jen Campbell and Steve Whitburn are the council members who should see this video. (Also noteworthy: There is no bike parking for normal users in or around Old Town. One staple in the new park at Taylor and Juan, but nothing else I could find. There is limited secure parking at the transit center for regular commuters for a fee and if you qualify as a person traveling to school or work daily. I ride up and down the other side of this hill (Cosoy/Jackson) 4 x each week. My husband goes down 5 days but prefers Juan for going up. (We ride e-bikes because of the hill killing ability.) Lots of people go up and down on bikes and walking on the Cosoy side. It's heartstoppingly dangerous for pedestrians. Especially anyone trying to get a kid in a stroller down. Thank you as always for bringing attention to these things.

honestly that Hyundai made me super uncomfortable just watching passing on a blind curve and cutting back in on you.

Just speaking for myself there's no way I'd ride on something like Taylor on the street.

From the Old Town station I'd suggest taking San Diego Ave ESE and use California/Henry streets to get up the hill. Wider streets, less traffic and a gentler grade

So, San Diego Ave isn't bad, but it becomes one-way at California St, making it difficult to get to Washington. As for climbing on California and Henry, that's pretty damn steep! On an ebike, maybe, but it's a little too brutal for me on a regular bike, especially loaded with bags from travel.

Let's keep hammering CALTRANS about Taylor St - it's criminally negligent to not have dedicated bike infrastructure from Old TOwn Station North to the Morena District , West to Liberty Station and East to Presidio Dr.

@rickgac311 The irony is that they have an office right there on Taylor.

OMG, I hate that section of Taylor. I cross Congress at Taylor and take San Diego Avenue to the right, which is pretty much just a dirt path to the parking lots at that point, over to Mason and then up to Jackson and Presidio. Juan street is terrible, just terrible. San Diego Ave to Bandini is another grind, so is taking Pringle, but at least that way come out near Washington and Goldfinch. Of course, if you're feeling really feisty you can cut left on Titus from Pringle and take the Robin's Egg Trail. Yikes.

@RodMesa-e2t I'll have to look up some of these roads on the map!

Old Town could be great, but it mostly a car sewer.

There truly aren't any real good ways to get up to Mission Hills or anywhere on the mesa. I hope that they city puts this higher on the priority.
@RidingBikesinSanDiego2 күн бұрын
@sandiegofun1 My hope is that people in the city watch these and say, "Oh. That's messed up. We should fixed that before someone dies!" History shows a poor record of that line of thinking, instead waiting until someone dies, then paying out a huge settlement to the families at many times the cost of preventative measures beforehand.

Like much of California, the terrain is beautiful, but the infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists is garbage.
