That's something that has been troubling me a lot lately, we are from Aram (Aram-Dimashq in the case of my family), not "Syria" which is the name given to our land by the Romans for administrative purpose. Same goes with Arameans from Iraq who identifies as "Assyrians", although their language (Suret) is derived from Aramaic, and not Akkadian. Why using the name of our former colonizers to refer to ourself? @@BestVideosSuryoyo I am also wondering why people are so much focusing on the Syriac script, while we still have our original alphabet, that is even still used today by Israelis Let's hope one day we'll be able to give birth again to a real Aramean state and that we'll be able to erase all the "arabization" and "islamization" brainwashing our people had to endure. We were one of the most advanced civilizations until Arabs came and made the majority of us forget about our roots.

The Syriacs did not bring any science to the Arabs. The Arabs only made science dicoveries better. In fact algebra was discovered by Al Khwarizmi and not by Charbel Makhlouf. Actually, you are historically wrong here, like read a history book in your life, the Syriac Christians in fact were the ones who translated Ancient Greek manuscripts to the Arabs and gave them the ability to make discoveries in science and develop, how else would the Arab become a civilization? They were simply Arab tribesmen in the desert, they did not magically become advanced once they stepped in Mesopotamia and the levant, the entire History of Abbasid, Umayyad and Arab architecture, discoveries and science are stolen from Byzantines, Syriac arameans, Coptic Egyptians, Sassanids and people they conquered, biggest colonizers in history.

I think my comment did not appear, but what on the surface of this earth are you claiming? This is preposterous simple enough, the Arameans are the one who translated Greek manuscripts to the Arab which allowed them to make scientific discoveries, it is a well known historical fact even, any claim against a true historical position as this would fall into the category of propaganda or pushing an agenda which contradicts actual history. Historically speaking the Arabs were tribes before early Islamic conquests that happened around 600 A.D, they did not suddenly become scholars and scientists once they left their original land in which they were tribal people before, claiming this is again preposterous, what happened is in architecture and science of the original natives of Mesopotamia, levant, Egypt, Iran were taken by the Arabs, most of Abbasid architecture has Persian elements as a simple example, similarly their science and discovery comes from other civilizations as Arameans and rum or Romans. As hard as it may sound for one to accept this is the absolute historical truth, do not be ungrateful.
