He grew up that way, unchecked and unfettered by any kind of stable household or parental figure. He somehow managed to be noticed and then had his hand held throughout his college career to just be eligible. His move to the NFL only served to exacerbate his condition, which only got worse because he now had piles of money with zero guidance. No, AB is a product of his nurture (or lack thereof) and his nature. He has been neglected, then coddled, then tolerated, and now will be neglected again and sadly forgotten.

I mean, seriously , how God damn important does posturing mean to you to justify spending 50k on a plane trip. Now, if you wanted to get together with millionaire friends and buy a jet or jet and set up a charter service, then that's an investment. The man was literally telling people he isn’t right and felt like he didn’t have control over his emotions. AB shouldn’t have to kill himself for you to broaden your purview. There are plenty of DV perpetrators who don’t have histories of head trauma, so in that regard I get it. But to say there’s no correlation between mental health and DV, particularly as the therapist you claim to be, seems like much more of a personal position as opposed to a professional one. Revisit that Burfict hit. Many of us are surprised AB is still alive. There’s definitely a personality component to all of this, and AB can’t be absolved of that. But to think CTE isn’t a key contributor to his downfall, yes DV included, is unfair to say the least.

Super great discussion. Have to agree with the youngsters on this one: bankruptcy has kinda lost it’s sting. It’s like divorce kinda. In the 70’s and 80’s it was sort of looked down on, now you just expect everyone has one or two in their past. Bankruptcy is going that way.

Stop. If you're telling me the NFL is to blame for AB's behavior, they need to end NFL football forever.

AB really is the Terrell Owens of the this current generation. AB had all the talent in the world and especially he could have been playing right now. The sad thing is like TO, AB burned every single bridge and bit the hand that feed him in Tom Brady. Once he took his pads off during the Jets game, AB was done in the NFL. He could have been a top 10 receiver all time, but his own narcissism let him torch teh place.

There’s only two types of personal bankruptcies, chapter 7 and chapter 13. With chapter 13, the person filing bankruptcy negotiates a repayment plan with all of their creditors, and with chapter 7, all of their assets are liquidated to pay back their creditors. Rumor has it AB only has $50,000 in assets, so chapter 7 will leave him with nothing, and I can’t see how chapter 13 will work since AB doesn’t have any consistent income to make payments with.

Most people who watch football could understand how players may experience serious head trauma from years of collisions that might contribute to poor mental health. However, it's always amazing how in the last 10 years, any player that acts in a poor manner, MUST have CTE. Plenty of ex football players have been able to live good, respectful, healthy lives post career and don't make stupid choices. Antonio Brown has the disease of ME and constantly seems attention and money. No amount of either would ever be enough for a person like him

I get what Dan is saying by mentioning "the lifestyle he had is gone". What he meant is that no one is gonna trust him enough to employ so he can have a steady income. Back when he had the money he wasn't paying people. And honestly I have zero sympathy for him.

Run Ricky Run had a condition b4 his NFL career called social anxiety disorder. He dealt with it his whole NFL career. There is 88 mil reasons why no one will feel bad for AB's bankruptcy, especially his victims he hurt. It wasn't the hit, he just never stopped being a wanna be thug, Locker Room incidents happened before the hit.

I don't think there's any way to bring mental illness into this and not make him a victim. If you're saying that if not for mental illness, either genetic or caused by physical trauma, that he wouldn't have assaulted those women or wrecked his finances, then you make him a victim.

The only reason he had $81M to lose, was because of football. Without football, AB would be exactly where he now finds himself. Football may of ruined his luxurious lifestyle, but it was also the only reason he had a luxurious lifestyle to lose. The ironing is delicious.

There’s different types of bankruptcies. Is this his business or a personal bankruptcy? Tyson did comeback, and he went to jail, but Iron Mike was loved, regardless. It’s apples and bowling balls, but AB doesn’t seem to have the likability factor to make the same kind of comeback. You never know, he could change in his later years.
