The Los Angeles Lakers are now 0-3 to start the season after losing to the Portland TrailBlazers 106-104 yesterday. The Lakers went 6-for-33 from 3 and Russell Westbrook was benched for the final three possessions of the game after missing a 15-foot pullup with under 30 to go that would've given the lakers a key 3-point lead. You know what’s crazy. This demise all began with the genius idea to take LBJ off of PG after he led the NBA in assists and the team won a chip. The irony is that the exact opposite has occurred of the logic behind the move, which was to reduce his usage/mpg as he ages. "a mediocre Portland team", huh? They're 3-0 right now. Yes, it is early right now but this team is really good. They have drastically improved their perimeter defense with the addition of Jerami Grant and GP2, not to mention acquiring Josh Hart last year in the CJ trade. They have a really good starting 5. Dame is one of the best players in the league and not only Dame but as a team, they execute great at the end of games. They have ridiculous perimeter shooting. The only big flaw they seem to have is they lack in size with Josh Hart playing the 3 and Nurk can't do anything defensively but they are loaded. They have a really good number 1 option that is one of the most explosive weapons in the league. They have 2 guys that can be really good 2nd scoring options in Grant and Anfernee. Anfernee can also get his own shot. And just when you go down the roster, these are guys you really know. Dame, Anfernee, Josh Hart, Grant, Nurk, Nassir, GP, Sharpe. They have athletic personalities, they have shooters, they have elite playmaking and they have multiple players that can make big plays.

Simons came up clutch against the Suns; Grant came up clutch last night. Both were able to cap off Dame’s 40-point games with their own contributions in and of themselves, without a need for an assist. That can ease the burden off Dame, who can deal the dagger when they need it most. The Lakers: 0-3 to start the season. The Trail Blazers: 3-0. Give more recognition to Portland; they deserve it.
