What people forget about this video -It is during the NBA Lockout Summer over 8 years ago (2011) -John Wall was the premier young PG of the league -Kyrie was just drafted #1 overall -This charity game happened before Curry got famous and not for his ankle injuries -Chris Paul was a perennial all-star still stuck in NO trying to get traded and got rejected by the NBA -JR Smith and Melo ruled the West while on the Nuggets but sucked in the Playoffs -Kobe just won his last championship the year before -This was the summer the "Heatles" got together aka Lebron, Wade, and Bosh -Rudy Gay and the Grizzlies were looking like the upcoming team for years to dominate the West -Kevin Durant, Westbrook, and Harden were the new young team trying to make waves (no nicknames yet) -Dwight Howard was the best center in the league avg 25ppg

John Wall... If not for injuries would be mentioned as one of the best to do it. He had it. He was on his way to being upper echelon.
@schuylersavage2762 жыл бұрын
Yep. So true. What he did do before the injuries is vastly underrated. He led his team to their 3 best seasons since 1979 without a single all star on his team. He has the best career Averges of any modern PG, only Magic Oscar and Isiah Thomas have career Averges of over 19 points and 9 assists per game. When you factor in his steals and blocks? He is one of one. No one else has ever Averged over 19 points 9 assists 1.7 steals and 0.7 blocks. Ever. Those numbers seem random but I’m not sharing no one else has the exact numbers, saying no one else has ever aberhed that many or more in those 4 categories. He’s also the only player in history, who has played wnoigg to qualify, to avergae at least 21 points and 9 assists per their playoff career. He’s a career 21.8 and 9.8 playoff guy. And his last couple playoff trips, once he was entering his prime, he set all types of records. He’s Averged 26 and 11 over his last 2 combined postseasons. He’s the only player ever to average 27 and 10 dimes for an entire plaotff run that lasted more than 1 series. He joined magic as the only guys with back to back plaotff games of 26 points 14 assists and 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Also joined MJ and LBJ as the only guys ever to produce 40+ and 8+ dimes in a road playoff W in a game 6 or later. Broke Jordan’s streak of consecutive playoff games with at least 20 points and 7 assists. Of course set a bunch of wizards records. Game 2 Vs Boston became the first player ever with a 40 point 13 assist 3 block 3 steal playoff game. Dude was just so freaking good, and did it all despite being on such a poorly run team. People forget that before Wall, wizards hadn’t won a second round playoff game since 1980. And hadn’t even made the playoffs in half a decade ar least. Then all it takes Wall is 3 seasons, most of them with changing parts and coaches, and some injuries, for him to then start a streak of 4 playoff trips in 5 years. And 5 consecutive years at .500 or better. And then won multiple playoff series agaisnr higher seeded Teams. The only first round series they lost was when Wall missed 40 games and returned just before the playoffs and they had fell to the 8th seed. So they played a 1 in the first round, and wall was still able to nearly force an upset. It went 6 close games and Wall had them leads in 2 of the losses late in the seocnd half, and in another loss he scored 22 with 7 dimes in the second half alone to nearly bring them back from 23 down with Beal only scoring 9 points. In his entire playoff career, he had never lost a playoff series to a team that wasn’t a #1 seed. Only teams that beat him were tops in the conference, and in 2015 he led a huge game 1 road upset over the 60 win #1 seed only for him to break his hand and missed the next 3 games which swung the series. That and a Kelly olyknik 27 poont game 7 are the only reasons he didn’t make at least 2 conference finals. Celtics outscored wizards bench 44-5 in that game 7. If he had a little bit better bench he makes the conference finals like every year most likely. Dude just got better in the playoffs. He was so good in thr plaotfs that even haters like SAS and Max and skip were saying, during the MVP Russ and stepg era, that Wall might actually be the best Pg in the game
@MrBarberboy422 жыл бұрын
@@schuylersavage276 that has to be the longest and quite impressive tangent I've seen in a while. I truly think Houston is about to miss out on that competent PG for the young ballers they have. I would've liked to see Wall and Jalen together for a season.
