17:40. Unfortunately telling this to black guys that care more about their hairline since they keep their hair super low (at least the majority of us) is gonna be tough. The majority of black guys that get a hair transplant, do it to get the hairline back at all costs. We rather have a hairline and use concealer than have a dense middle scalp back.

@dantan12493 жыл бұрын
Black guys should experiment with length more. I’m black and i keep some length to my hair. It actually disguises the thin areas completely. My Hairline is decent and I don’t have a big head so the fro just kinda shrinks along the natural line and hides the minor recession. Nappy hair has a lot of utility in that respect. Grow it 3 times longer than desired if you have 4c and let it shrink into place. Then shape it.
@dantan12493 жыл бұрын
@Aristides Gonzalez it’s probably not stress if it’s your hairline. I would use minoxidil. My hair started thinning 7 years ago and it’s been stable since I started minoxidil 3 years ago. It sheds like crazy at first though. I actually get a dermatologist grade 7% minoxidil with .01% topical finasteride in it as well. Haven’t found topical finasteride anywhere else though. 45 bucks a month.

Hi Dr. Gary. You make amazing and well explained content. I think you should definitely make a video on the difference between your clinic and clinics like hair of Istanbul (you don't have to use any names, you could just say foreign/cheaper clinics that use lots of donor hair in one operation). I'm 26, and although I haven't noticed any hair loss yet it's something I do think about and have researched. Your answer showed me why these foreign clinics aren't the answer, but plenty of people roughly my age don't realize that these clinics are exhausting your entire donor supply and will result in a very strange hair pattern later in life. You should talk about why a prospective patient should very strongly consider these clinics and why they aren't a great option for young men who are balding early.

@@johnblack4915 MJ shaved his head during an era way before social media, and in an era where balding wasn’t stigmatized nearly as much as it is today. Go watch the old TV shows, movies and sports, and men rocked receding hairlines and bald spots like it was nobody’s business. When MJ was losing his hair, he wasn’t getting flamed for it because it was seen as normal. These days, once LeBron was receding, the internet and people in general were flaming LeBron for his hair. It matters much more today and men are more self-conscious about it due to other men flaming them and women not being attracted to them. So to compare MJ to LeBron in this is not a good comparison. Also, maybe LeBron is holding onto his hair and MJ for rid of his because MJ has the head shape for it and LeBron doesn’t (this is actually a huge factor for many in deciding whether to shave it off or not). Also, maybe MJ didn’t try to hold onto it because back then (in the 80s), they didn’t have the same options we have today. Rogain wasn’t a thing for hair yet, finasteride wasn’t either and hair transplants weren’t nearly as good as they are today. Modern hair transplants weren’t starting to be done until the 90s. The first FUT procedure was in the 90s. MJ shaved his head in 1989 before any of these options. And we don’t know if he tried natural remedies to regrow his hair or stop the balding. People love to compare LeBron to Jordan to throw LeBron under the bus, especially with bs metrics like this. Your statement is probably the most ridiculous MJ LeBron comparison I’ve ever heard.

Yeah that's cool that you conqured your fear of balding. But people seem to forget that rocking the baldy doesn't look good on everybody. I can't think of the actor who portrayed Vanessa Williams husband in the movie Soul Food. I remember that at one time he had a nice head of wavy hair. I have a feeling that once his hair fell out he wasn't able to get those leading man movie roles. Sadly, sometimes having hair really makes a huge difference in life.

This is the second video from you that I am watching. I enjoy the work you put out. That being said, I disagree that celebrities need to tell the public about the cosmetic work that they did. If they want to, that is up to them but they have the right to privacy just like everyone else. I do agree that if people knew about their cosmetic work it would help others to deal with their own issues but lets leave it to them to share if they so choose and not be upset with them if they don't choose to.

Apparently Lebron James spends over $1,000,000 each year for his diet, nutrition, and training to be on top shape, unfortunately all that couldn't save a balding, hairline recession. Be sure to consult your surgeon before taking on a hair transplant procedure because sometimes that underlying condition cannot be saved or covered up.

You can also tell because when he talks about the barber who cuts his hair you can she the waves around his head sides and I’m sure the back but the thinning area on the top and crown are straight. Do you think perhaps his surgeon took advantage of him with transplanting from an area that he knew would eventually start to go at some point in the future to ensure he comes back for a second transplant so he could in effect double charge him. Thank you for educating us on this, this video in particular will show people where the hair needs to be taken from on they’re first surgery because this is very expensive and some people like myself atm sadly don’t have enough money to even do this once let alone a second time. I do know it usually takes 2 surgeries for most individuals but I would still want the best results possible and a chance at not having to do a second 1 or at least buy as much time as possible to save up the $ amount for the 2nd operation. Thank you for taking your time to make these videos for us you do a great job breaking down the process in detail.

@NaiveNectarine3 жыл бұрын
I’m not a doctor but from what I was told after my transplant you should avoid using minoxidil for the first 10 days post transplant. After the first 10 days using minoxidil on the transplanted area CAN help see some quicker regrowth but is not guaranteed to speed anything up.

You're not supposed to do any gym and etc that will let you sweat out alot after doing the transplant. Think of it like planting a very small plant in dirt, then pouring a bucket of water over it. This is what happened with Lebron's transplant, it never got the time to heal properly. He needed to be out the gym for at least 6 months.....which was impossible. Hence his half result.
