The best way to honor veterans is to ensure that they don't sleep on the streets because they're homeless and don't die from suicides because they lack mental health support. Whether someone stands or sits during the national anthem is an expression of personal freedom. Either choice honors servicemen and veterans because defending that freedom is what they bleed and die for. Those who want to dictate how other people express their love for America don't understand what America means because they don't understand freedom. Colby Covington is one such a person. LeBron can choose to sit during the national anthem because America gives him the freedom to do so, period. If Colby wants to live in a country where people are forced to express patriotism, he should go and live in North Korea.

Choices still come with benefits or penalties. Freedom to make a decision does not mean freedom from the consequences of that decision. There needs to be a broad discussion on this topic because we as Americans, generally speaking, don’t seem to grasp certain realities of life; we don’t do deep dives into word meanings for example. And some of us defend wrongful actions at times because either we don’t have all the info or we don’t care about the true meaning. We like to go by our own personal definition of things. Standing for the national anthem is symbolically showing respect for the lives given in order to have an anthem to stand for. Otherwise, we might not even have this choice.

The host came as a child with his fam as a refugee from Iran during the Islamic revolution and enlisted in the US Army for 3 years as infantry the first guys that get sent to war. He does a lot of charity and he even has a breakdown in his books on how to give back to community. I've been a patriotic American my whole life. I appreciate all those who fought to keep us free. But the core of my patriotism is rooted in our Bill of Rights and our behavior as a nation throughout most of our history. Also, as black Americans, many of our ancestors fought in wars and couldn’t vote when they came back from the war.
