This is so beautiful. All three members are fantastic together. I understand her voice is well, breathtaking really, but the interwoven vocal harmonies and both instruments are played supremely as well. I hope you are finally able to accept the truth. I have been trying to explain the contrast here. i see it being sung from the perspective of a man. He sees the wonder, courage and joy in the woman he loves, and it reminds him of who he was before.... well, everything that can harden the heart of a man in life. Before, when he was still a child and "had so many colors" and now he still sees them in himself "hiding inside." His partner is reflecting these things back to him and he is reminded he once was carefree, joyful, curious, wondrous... He sees her as the rainbow inside him. But he also has ideas like "Dearest, I'm broken... how can i be loved?" So many men feel inadequate. They want to much to be ENOUGH for those around him. So many men feel like they don't deserve to be loved by the woman who loves them. The second verse is peculiar, it seems like a plea for help, almost regretful. Choking, shaking, floating, surfing the clouds... perhaps trying to escape his life. Maybe he has an addiction. But it helps him remember the joy he had a child.. And then he remembers who he is currently: a difficult man. The tone of the song is one of remorse, to me.. It makes me cry.
