I’m 90 and my first ride on this trike was a bit of an adventure. A few days later I took a long ride around the neighborhood and I felt much more in control. There have been complaints about the bike arriving with various kinds of damage. Mine came with just some minor bending of the fenders which was easily fixed. A great trike for the price.

Wow...I certainly applaud you for getting out and doing some bike riding. Those bikes travel a long way to get to you so as long as there is nothing major, I count it as a successful delivery. 😀 Continued happiness with your trike!!

Hi John I have been following your channel for a couple of years and learned a lot. We also live in West Virginia-Martinsburg. I am a big guy also at about 270. I was one of the first to order the Lectric Trike and got mine in early May. I now have over 280 miles on the Trike and really love it! I have not had any problems or even close calls. The trike has two modes on it. If you go to settings and P 22, you can change the setting to 001 instead of 000. That makes the trike go faster quicker, and with the full power of the motor which can get up to just under 1100 W. The trike comes with the lower wattage as a method by which people can get used to the trike without endangering themselves. The trike also comes with a rear differential which answers the tipping issue. I have taken 0:39 0:39 my trike up and down hills on streets and trails, around corners on roads that were slanted and never had a real problem tipping. My wife expresses the same concern as you did, but I can assure you it is hard to tip that trike over. Thank you for your videos. I really enjoy them. .

Hi David…it’s great to hear from a fellow West Virginian! I often wonder how many of us watch the channel. I do know of another lady that lives in Grafton that watches. I used to travel through Martinsburg at least once a week for work years ago. I can’t believe how much it has grown over the years. Thanks for the tips on the trike. The way it’s set up is good for my Mom right now but I’ll remember how to bump up the power when she gets more comfortable. It is a different feeling than a two wheeler but I’m sure you get used to it. Lectric has always had a pretty powerful 500 watt motor. I love making videos and hope to keep making them better and better while showing the great WV outdoors. Thanks for taking the time to stop by and leave a message…I really do appreciate it! Happy riding and have a great day!!

I love mine but the leaning drives me crazy so this is good to read that while it may feel tippy, it likely won't tip. I haven't had any close calls either and have tight turns going up hills on my route to work. I use it as a car replacement to make the 10 mile ride to work. lots of hills and uneven trails.

I am 80 and am very satisfied with my trike. My speed is about the same as you but I use it mostly only throttle and seldom use PAS under 5. I use it as a car replacement. I live in a town of 50,000 in central texas and seldom ride over 7 miles a day

I'm happy to hear that you are satisfied with your trike. I had one comment saying that they bought 2 trikes and both had berring problems so people should stay away from them. I don't know how that happened but it's good to hear that you have had a good experience.
@traciemac9533 Жыл бұрын
Have had this bike for a few months. You definitely have to get used to the leaning. I ride on a rough trail and really slow down because I get nervous as well. There are settings to allow it to go a bit faster and also to start a bit faster when using the throttle. I ride it on pedal assist 3 as well. that is the most comfortable. I have to go up a very steep hill to get home. you really have to pedal. the throttle just isn't enough esp. when you're heavier. Also I ran into a situation where the bike overheated due to using the throttle for about 20 minutes. The company said just let it rest for 10 to cool off. I rarely use the throttle now and rely on pedaling at assist 5 when going up hill. It's good exercise for me at 53.

Hi Tracie! Sorry it took so long to get back to you but sometimes life happens! Getting to know your ebike does take a little time whether it is a trike or 2 wheeled bike. Motors can get hot so it's not great to max them out for extended periods. That is why I prefer riding my bike that has a 750watt motor. I have 4 other ebikes that have 500watt motors and they are fine for flatter roads and trails but my 750 watt motor bike suits me better with my heavy weight and being in West Virginia with hilly conditions. The bigger motor doesn't have to strain as much as the smaller motor. I really wish and hope that they will give an option for a bigger motor in the trikes at some point.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you but sometimes, life happens. But I'm glad you are looking into getting a bike. This trike belongs to my mother who is about your age and it is really great. I don't know if you have gotten one yet but when you do, take your time and go slow with it because it does have a slight learning curve compared to a 2 wheeled bike. But I feel that it will work out well for you as it has my mother.

I wish I didn't have to write this review. These Lectric XP trikes are cheaply built in our view. I bought two of them in July of 2023, by October both bikes have a bad axle bearing on the rear. This is with only neighborhood rides and no speed above 2. total miles on one is 117 and on the other 102. We asked for help from "Lectric" but was told that this bearing is not repairable and Lectric e-bikes said to send them back to see if we could get new ones. We live over a thousand miles away. They refused any help with shop manuals or tech support, just send them back. We have the bikes setting in our garage if anyone wishes to verify. Sorry. Don and Jenny
@jackm630710 ай бұрын
Thank you very much for the review, and the more you review it, the more people you will very likely save from making a big mistake. One bad bearing is one thing, but two that went bad in the same way on different identical trikes, around the same time, and in only a few months is a HUGE red flag. I'm convinced and this will end my research into this bike as a prospect. Keep up the good work.

I know this sounds very bad but this is the first I've heard of any Lectric bike having this type of problem. I have no dog in the hunt when it comes to making Lectric sound good as a company but I've always had great experiences with their customer service. This is about the only company where you can actually talk to an English speaking person that you can understand and they usually request a picture of the problem and send out a whole new part, free of charge. The trike might be a little different and more expensive but there is a lot more to the way a trike is set up compared to a two wheel bike. But I've heard of people having trouble with the hub motor and Lectric sent them a whole new wheel with the hub motor attached free of charge. They should be able to do that for your situation.

What abandoned railroad is that you're riding on? I ordered a trike which was delivered in 9 days! No damage on mine. I've only ridden it once around the yard as the intense March winds just won't slack off. Anxious to get it out to our local state park!

Looks like I missed a few videos, but at least KZbin threw this one up for me. Good review. I saw another review of a couple who went to the store in Arizona, they didn't buy the trike but a different Lectric. Another reviewer did a 4 way comparison, with Lectric trike coming in second to the Rad trike. His mother picked the one that felt most stable so if your mother decides this is a no go she might try the Rad. All that being said a lot of people in my Lectric facebook group are loving this trike with zero complaints. Okay, looks like I have some of your past videos to catch up on. 😛
@ReflectionsofOurLife Жыл бұрын
Hi @goldenseal ! I’d say it is my fault you haven’t seen some of my past videos. Because I went so long between videos for a time, the KZbin computer stopped pushing them out. The key is for me to get back to posting more often so KZbin will like me again😂. This was a good trike in my opinion. They take a little bit of time to get used to and lack the power of the two wheeler. But there is a comment under this video where a man was telling me that you can bump the power up on the computer. I do feel like it is very stable and would trust it wholeheartedly. It was great hearing from you again! Have a great day!!

@davidmartin62735 ай бұрын
You didn’t read the instructions about the speed being regulated at first for training purposes so a new rider doesn’t kill themselves. Riding a tricycle, electric or not requires a different mindset when riding. After 4-5 miles you get the hang of it. My Lectric trikes for my wife and myself came last august. I’ve put a couple hundred miles on mine and find it absolutely wonderful. My wife doesn’t have a problem either. The bike will go at 13.7 to 13.8 all the time if you adjust the computer in the instructions. I have had zero problems other than a flat tire caused by a stone that was shaped like a dagger. Glad my car or truck didn’t find that rock first. My wife and I are in our mid 70’s and we are not light weight folks either. We love our Lectric Trikes and so glad that we purchased them. Tell your mother to get out on it and get use to it. Need to stay out of gutters with just one rear wheel. We have never tipped over but a deep gutter will give you the feeling that you might tip. Never have yet. We have ridden 22 miles with no pedaling, battery only, and still had a good deal of battery in reserve. I have had my trike up to 25-26 miles an hour downhill. That’s a little faster than I really care to go. The power in the motor is exceptional. I went up a steep incline out of a marina on the Hudson River which was about 50+ degrees. It carried my heavy butt up that hill with no pedal assist at about 8 miles an hour. I was very impressed.

In the manual (only available online at Lectric’s site) it shows you how to change settings in an additional page on the LCD. It will allow you to change the top speed on each pas setting. And how quickly the trike gets up to speed. I have changed mine to the highest setting and I obtained a top speed of 17-18 with throttle alone. This is a new model and you have to keep in mind that Lectric is going to have some growing pains. My suggestion is wait a year and let them fix the problems. Also, there is a learning curve riding any trike. It will lean on any sloped surface. You as the rider will need to lean into opposite side of the lean. Otherwise, your brain will tell you that you are falling over. Fear not, you wont fall over, it just feels that way. I owned a Harley Davidson Trike and it felt the same way. I have grown to like this trike. For the money, its fantastic! Spend more money and you will get more options on the trike this doesnt have. No front suspension is something I would of liked to have on mine. If the road isnt smooth, it will impact on your handlebars.
@elliestretchprays7851 Жыл бұрын
Mine arrived yesterday, so far I haven’t noticed any damage from shipping. It came with a nice manual which I’m reading before riding. I’ve cleaned the disk on the brakes. Front was clean, rear had some grease. Glad I watched a variety of videos showing to do this.
@gaarcemail Жыл бұрын
All trikes lean, it's natural for a tricycle, unless it has a leveling system that would allow the seat and the handlebar to automatically lean the other way, to balance it. I'd say that would probably make the bike pretty expensive.

The left brake lever needs to be moved back about 1/2", otherwise on a hard bump you can cut your index finger knuckle. Also I have found that you can get 10 to 12 mpr in level 3, current draw is 3to 4 volts in level 4 it's 7 to 8 volts so for me it's not worth the lost distance for the small amount of extra speed. I'm in your weight range & 6'1" do a run in pas 3 you will find it will do the same 11ish mpr.

@ReflectionsofOurLife9 ай бұрын
You would think so but it is surprisingly stable at a reasonable speed. Just because it has a motor on it doesn't make it any more dangerous in my opinion. Just set the pedal assist on 1 and you won't go much faster than 5 miles an hour which is just about jogging speed. You can also ride it without the motor's help by putting the pedal assist to 0 and then it is a regular bike so you can get used to it.

@ReflectionsofOurLife9 ай бұрын
There is no reverse on this trike as with all 2 wheeled bikes. You can push backward with your feet while on the seat or you have to get off and push it backwards. It didn't pose any issue for me when I rode the trike but I guess that could be an issue for people that can't touch the ground while seated or have trouble getting on and off. But there are very few times that you would need to back up while out on a ride in my opinion. The pedals pedal backward exactly like a 10 speed bike...they go backward without moving the bike.

@ReflectionsofOurLife9 ай бұрын
What do you mean? Was this battery not charged all the way? If not, then I should have charged it more but I knew I wasn't going to ride very far. It had enough charge that it was operating nicely. The battery can be taken out of the bike or charged while it is in the bike. There is a charger with it that you plug into a wall outlet.
It’s similar to riding a regular bike. Because it has 3 wheels and is a little heavier than a 2 wheel bike it’s a bit harder. If you are on fairly level ground it’s not bad at all. My 70 something mother can pedal it without the battery pretty well on flat ground.

I don't really think this reflects the true info about this bike. Everything I have read indicates that it takes a bit of time to get used to riding any trike, not just this one. His mother doesn't seem to ride often or far. He doesn't appear to have much experience on a trike either. He mentioned topping out at 12 or 13 mph. Like he admitted again, about 1/3 of the way through, he weighs 290 lbs. You can bet it's going to go slower than the 14 mph the company advertises. He's only about 30 lbs. less than the bike's limit. How many times do you have to mention tipping over???

I can see that you are one of those people that only looks for the downside of things. You are right...this was my first time riding a trike as I believe I stated toward the beginning. First of all, we have 4 Lectric brand ebikes and love every one of them but they are of the 2 wheel type. My mother, who hasn't ridden a bike since she was a young girl, bought this bike and felt unsteady on it. That was the reason I was riding it in the first place. She didn't want to be a part of this video. I was helping her get used to it and thought I'd take it out for a spin and see how it handled. The bike arrives with a governor that maxes out at 14 or 15 miles an hour and that is what Lectric advertises on their website. I was able to just about reach that speed. When talking about speed and handling I always say that I'm in West Virginia (with hills) and a big guy which both contributes to the riding experience. I do have a lot of experience on ebikes and have been riding them for 3 or 4 years but this was my first trike. I wanted to show how sturdy it was and how hard it would be to tip over being my size and with uneven roads. I wanted to show that even with those problems, it still rode well and would be better for lighter people and those in flatter states. That is why I kept mentioning the issue of tipping over! Most people know that might be an issue so I wanted to stress how it felt. But thank you for giving me an excuse to explain all of that.

Avoid these. Crappy shipping box. If you manage to get 1 that isn't damaged, you're lucky. When you do receive a damaged, YOU have to assume ALL documentation. Love to spend money on a new product with dented fenders, bent rims only to be told I HAVE TO BOX IT UP FOR RETURN?? WTF? You're money will spend globally, choose wisely. Avoid this company. Customer service is B A D!

Lectric's customer service is bad?? I've heard nothing but the best for it until this post. My family and I have received 6 bikes from Lectric and have never received one that was damaged. All companies can't be perfect and there most likely will be issues with every company out there. But I've heard many stories of Lectric sending out new parts free if they are damaged or broken. I'm sorry about your experience.

Disappointed in your lack of research into the trike. You were riding in beginners mode the trike comes from the factory. Everything is limited.. The battery info is shown in every feature sheet.

I'm disappointed that you didn't pay attention to the beginning of the video when I mentioned that this bike belongs to my mother who was worried about the stability of the bike when riding. I was not given or paid to do a manufacturer's version of a review. My aim sir, was to basically look it over since I hadn't seen one yet and ride it to figure out if I thought it was safe to ride for my older mother. This bike does 15mph out of the box and I would NEVER tell anyone to ride it any faster than that. Although it does feel safe, I can see where it could possibly tip over if you are going much faster than that in certain instances. As a family, we have 4 ebikes from Lectric and I, as most people who are into Lectric bikes, know how to bump up the speed on their bikes. The website shows everything that you are looking for.
