Dear Masters Seminary, is there a chance to get the notes from this lecture? I'm a layman who makes biblestudies in germany and I want to grow in the study of the word, so that I can present the word of God to the people of God more clearly and effectively. God bless

Currently in a hermeneutics course and right off the bat this is so much more involved. Not to downplay my class but to attend a lecture of this level would be so fulfilling.

Most people today would say that this professor is boring. This is due to the fact that we're accustomed to great dynamics through lectures and classes. I mean even when the content is awesome we still want great entertainment, oratory and so on. I think it is a bad habit. Look at the way Jonathan Edwards used to preach, for instance. It seems that he had a poor oratory, nevertheless his people were accustomed focusing more in content than in the way it is presented. Those people knew how to listen to 3-hours sermons with attention. Nowadays a sermon that is more than 1 hour is "tiresome". We need to learn how to appreciate more and how to pay more attention when a wise man is speaking, regardless the way he is doing it. Regardless if it has no emotion or dynamic.

What a great treasure, don't rely on dictionary meaning, but examine the original Greek language .

I don't believe that disagreements should bring division in the Church we shout come together when we have disagreement instead of falling away from each other

Secondary note but still useful. Dr. Rosscup is wrong in his pronunciation of "Pauline". He states that it should be pronounced as "Paul line" and not "Paul leen". "Pauleen" (Pauline) is the feminine of Paul in French. In English, you use the same pronunciation as French for Pauline. See: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ioS7oaqNpKykb8k . Interestingly, Johannine is pronounced as Dr. Rosscup suggests, ending in the sound "line". kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpuUoXWhh9V5rpY

Great insight into studying the bible from a seminary view. Not the best example however when "African head hunters " was used about being diligent. Unfortunately, examples like that do espouse the notion that Western and European Christianity is not a religion for people of color.

I wonder if Rosscup has the personal intellectual awareness to see in himself the errors he so roundly and frequently criticizes and condemns? I seem to get a certain spirit of sort of smug arrogance running through much of the lecture...

I don't see arrogance. Instead, I see a man who has learned a lot. And someone who was influenced by John McArthur, R.C Sproul, and John Gerstner. Perhaps a little much on the similarity of those three? To the point where he seems to imitate them.

Ironically, there seems to a sort of smug arrogance in your numerous criticisms of the lectures posted on this channel.

It takes humility to see greatness in others regardless of your own particular slant. I have great pity for your lack of.
