Just wanted to mention that it is NOT true that the air on top of the aerofoil does not travel faster because it travels a greater distance in same time. Even just thinking about this logically it doesn’t make sense. The air molecules do not have to stay as pairs. It rather happens due to conservation of angular momentum due to vortices that are produced once the boundary layer separates from the aerofoil surface. This then causes a circulation of air the goes with the motion of air on top but against the motion underneath hence why the top is faster and bottom is slower.

Spoilers are used for roll control in addition to ailerons in large commercial aircraft, thats why they are called flight controls.

I'm sorry, but your description of lift is wrong. Even the drawings are conflicting. The problem is that lift is so complex that you have to be a rocket scientist to understand it. Therefore, most pilots are given descriptions that are halfway right and halfway wrong. To understand lift, you have to understand how to use Bernoulli's theorem correctly, you have to understand all of Newton's three laws of motion, where the second law is most important, and you have to understand viscosity and Reynolds number. And this is just the beginning...

Sorry to say but your Bernoulli argument about lift is completely wrong. First of all air molecules of different streams don’t exactly meet at the same time at the trailing edge (equal time argument). Secondly Bernoulli’s principle only covers one stream. So it can’t be applied to two different airstreams. The airflow follows the airfoil because of the coanda effect. This generates curvature in the airflow, which has a higher pressure on the outside of the curvature than on the inside. This is what generates the pressure difference thus the lift. (In combination with Newtons first law) Great video!

You are correct. This video was from a while ago and my explanation of Bernoulli's principle was (and is) a common misconception. I'm considering starting to post more videos. Thanks for the comment.
