I am truly grateful to have found your video series for Community Psychology. I am preparing for the new semester to begin and have just finished reading CH 1, in an attempt to get a jump start, as each semester has proven to get buzzing in a hurry. Your lecture is a very helpful overview and reinforcement of the text's reading. I am so glad to see that you have more videos to follow, so I will be a frequent visitor throughout the semester to come. : ) Thank you so much!

Great video. Do you have a reference or citation for the model represented by the diagram at 6:30 on this clip?

Hi, those videos are based on the book (Kloos, B., Hill, J., Thomas, E., Wandersman, A., & Elias, M. J. (2012). Community psychology: Linking individuals and communities. Cengage Learning.). The diagram can be found on page 19. More generally, the diagram is based on Bronfenbrenner's theory: ecology of human development.

Hello! This is a very interesting subject and good lectures. Yet, because of the background sound it's a bit challenging to listen. Just wanted to give the tip that since the sound seems like it's just "one" noise on one frequency, I think it's actually quite easy to remove it video editor today. I did a few, a few times in the past with Adobe Premier, but it can probably be done with free/shareware these days. The subject really is in a popular faze right now, and for sure more to come. Please think if a revival of the series with less noise for easy listening! :) (If there is some left there's always the option of low background music to cover the rest). Thank you for the videos.

Thanks! This was my first attempt at making online videos, so the quality is a lot poorer than I would like. At some point I'll update these!

So I was initially hyped to check in on Community Psychology, and Charile you must be doing a good job since this is the video I first found. I'll share constructively that something at the bottom layer of the presentation struck me a little out of tune. The last third of the lecture on CC as a discipline delivers the endeavor more like a received set of values without a social context (i.e. some committee somewhere is who said "these are the seven.") It felt out of rhythm given that the prior discussion is all about recognising the working of social structures, and that these are specific to time and place.

@charliecollins52406 жыл бұрын
Hi Ruvie, There are seven core principles to community psychology. Sense of community, empowerment and citizen participation, empirical grounding, social justice, individual and family wellness, respect for diversity, and collaboration and community strengths. I won't explain them all here (they are explained throughout my videos), but there are many resources that may help you understand them better: www.scra27.org/what-we-do/what-community-psychology/ and en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_psychology
