Prof. Bird, this is a terrific overview of the liberal vs totalitarian interpretations of JJR. I especially found your comparison of Rousseau's idea of patriotism as like the pride of Boeing and Airbus in their versions of the jumbojet "ideal" as fascinating. My thoughts on JJR were expanded by this lecture. Thank you!
