Yes it is right. You can apply t test. In t test value of n can be greater than 30. Here 55 is not n, it is degree of freedom. You can use t test.

What is the value of df 55?in my book one tailed or two tailed theres no value of 55...infact theres no value after 30....so what decision should be give?and it will be wrong if i use Z insted of T?

@@shoumikchakraborty1255 there is no huge difference between z test and t test, both are same. The difference is if we apply t test for sample less than 30 we call it t test and if we use it for sample greater than 30 we call it z rest. As i see in a book, table value for df 50 is 2.01 and 2.68 whereas for df 60 these are 2.00 and 2.66. You can assume value between this or use interpolation method to find the exact value for df 55. I hope this is helpful for you.

Hlo.maam..i have one doubt ..how can we find out whether the samples are dependent or independent.. Actually I am doing a research on the topic "Impact of English on achievement of other school subjects at primary level " Here i have correlated the scores of English with other two school subjects viz.maths and evs.I have taken the scores of 105 students....and the scores of 3 subjects from each students in each subject. Here i cant understand that the scores of English,EVS and Maths are independent or dependent. The scores are obtained from one group of students in a single exam and there are the scores of 3 subjects . Please maam help me to understand what type data i have?

Good question... Result of correlation will tell u about the dependence or independence. If scores in different subject are correlated then u can say that scores are dependent and if not correlated than scores are not correlated. I hope this will be helpful to u.
