not actually...... the area that we consider is cross section perpendicular to the tension.... but if we make a cross section perpendicular to the tensile forces.... the lowest possible area (critical area), will have 3 holes...... we dont consider holes along pitch.

Why is the failure line always passing through bolts? , Can the plate fail in such a way that there is no bolt in its line of failure?

Net area is always low along bolt holes. Rupture will always occur in less area prior to gross area.
