I had a modified whipple at Froedert in Milwaukee for chronic pancreatitis from sphincter of oddi dysfunction it’s a rough surgery & I still have my pancreas. It would be interesting for you to discuss total pancreatectomy with auto islet transplant. Unfortunately I don’t qualify because I had the modified whipple which if we did the tp/ait I would be left as a brittle diabetic which is something we want to avoid. I still suffer with chronic pancreatitis flares, daily pain & constant nausea. I’m a non-drinker. It took two years after my gallbladder removal to get a SOD diagnosis. I had multiple stents tried to placed before the modified whipple in 2011, I’ve been battling since 2007. We traveled from Missouri to Wisconsin for the stents & then modified whipple. Since that diagnosis I’ve beat stage 2b cervical cancer in 2018 & I’ve just this year got an official lupus diagnosis. The doctors did genetic testing at the time of my whipple to see if I carried the gene for cystic fibrosis, which I don’t. My mom’s family is Apache & Blackfoot and my dad is mostly welsh with a small amount of German. My dad actually has hemochromatosis but I suffer with severe anemia without a cause. I’m wondering if my lupus caused my SOD. I had what we thought was a lupus flare when I was 17 but my dr said wait & see, I’m 50 now. I’ve always battled gi issues, gallbladder, appendix gone, adhesions & hernia. I’ve had complex hereditary migraines since I was small. Thank you for bringing attention in away the lay person can understand. I’d be happy to share my experience.
