sir in the second last qs 20:39 standard deviation is given 2 yrs so shouldnt we consider sigma square as 4 , ie , x = (sigma^2)*z + u , = 4*(-1.88) + 10 ?

Our x is mean + z*sigma.. mean is 10 and sigma is 2. So 4 will not come..

Yes, you need to find z value first and then use tables..
