One question on dipS: based on the second law, we typically say ip is short for irreversible process. Here ip is short for spontaneous internal process. What is the reason to choose different term for ip? Can we also say it is internal irreversible process?

Great observation! I started to use ip for internal processes because d_ip_S is used to evaluate any internal processes. When it is positive, the internal process proceeds irreversibly. When it is zero, the internal process is either in equilibrium or under freeze_in conditions. When it is negative, the internal process does not happen.
