Yasser is the best chess lecturer ever... I'm beginning to appreciate Finegold as well though... Still, no one can beat Yasser. Yasser for these lectures, and MatoJelic for his yt analysis.

25:35 33. Ng4 also loses to Bxf3. The game swung in black's favour after 31. f3, but at this point, Carlsen was already down to less than a minute for 10 moves.

indeed, even loses faster and "easier", so point for magnus there even under time pressure!

Marcelo Agustin Martinez although my chess engine does suggest that 35.Kf1 is only -0.89 !!!

@22:00 My seven year old son tells me he found the move Bh8 saying that the Bishop can capture the pawn on e5 if the Ke7. get ready for him to beat Magnus in 15 more years.

This game requires a massive amount of exposition. You have to consider the tournament situation.

didn't mention Anand at all as a strong contender for the candidates 2014.

+Saalem Sadeque *smile* Because nobody expected Anand to be that strong again! Amaizingly Anand simply wanted to play good chess! Probably this was the key to his win in the candidates in 2014! But I really like Anand. He is a very nice person. Yasser Seirawan is very nice too. So is/was Magnus Carlsen (and I have the impression also Peter Svidler though he is the only of those mentioned GMs I never personally met)!

Can anybody tell me why white knight to G5 is a bad idea on 6:25? I love that move. You threaten to take on F7 and there is nothing black can do about it.

Black would simply castle. White could trade his two minor pieces for rook and f-pawn, but this would be bad for two reasons. 1) It's an even trade, in terms of material. Nothing special. 2) More importantly, white would give up his advantage (and perhaps even be slightly worse) because he spent 3 moves attacking the king instead of developing his pieces.

Also, the minor pieces are better in the middle game, the rook is better in the ending with open files, so white is really very bad if he changes 2 active pieces for 1 that is not active already... is algo a number thing, 2 pieces for 1 rook, even with another pawn, that looks dubios to me...
