18hrs a week or 18hrs a month. Unisa used to pay part-time lecturers R350/hr back in 2017. 18hrs weekly X 4.43 weeks = 80hrs/month 80hrs X 350 = R27900 (Back in 2017- Online part-time lecturers made more.) Imagine today

Elite private schools sometimes offer to teach your children (sometimes plus accommodation) free of charge in lieu of a higher salary. These schools fees normally run at R200k plus a year. So all in all, it is a fair swap/deal.

Lecturer or Tutor at the beginning of the vid? That is what I do as a tutor at University, just help students when they need me or revising questions they need clarity on. I dont think that person is a lecturer.. Depending on the number of subjects you are tutoring, you can get 7,8k per month as a tutor. Some students make up to 15k tutoring and basically not doing much.

Goes to show how the system values educators. They are amongst the lowest paid professionals. They do get lots of holidays compared to any other industry. But that doesn't make anyone any richer right. Especially when gas prices are high AF 😅
