Kirby Meets Audio - I do have a quite rad and original idea for a speaker build. But time, money and knowledge aren't working in my favor 😅

This came out gorgeous! If you had just told me you were going to do brown epoxy, I would not have thought I would like it ... But it looks GREAT! Similar to walnut and maple, which is a combo I love....

Absolutely amazing. I've built (and currently building) a few of your speakers and they are AWESOME. I've been intrigued by the resin as well, but never as a speaker! This may be my next build..... Keep it up!

As always, great job and very creative, Kirby. Congrats to you and Jen on the new place! As for the speaker, I'd be curious to see if the epoxy can stand up to more power, larger drivers and lower frequency. Alas, that would be a really expensive experiment as the Epoxy is not cheap.

So, I redid a front baffle on one of my speakers to make it a clean hardware free appearance. Had a rough time working out how to run long hardware from the back, but I did it. Told myself "Next time I would do like Kirby does". The I see this video.

Hi Kirby! Do you seal the tweeter from the back or is the snug fit sufficient? Perhaps it isn't that important since it is vented? Otherwise great video and keep up the good work!

Beautiful Kirby. How is the acoustic quality of the epoxy? Any concerns? Also, what did you put in the epoxy? Can you drop or add a link. Thanks.

Damn that is awesome looking...... kirby would a 2 woofer 2 tweeter setup be more superior to 2 full range and 1 sub woofer ? Which would be better ?
@KirbyMeetsAudio5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I wouldn't say either is better than the other, it depends on what you like and where your skill level is at. Full range speakers tend to sound better in the vocal range and are much easier to design and build. A 2-way system can be better for critical listening, but are more difficult to design and build. I think you'll be happy with either design!
@ishitapatelhere5 жыл бұрын
@@KirbyMeetsAudio thanks a lot !! I think ill go with a 2 way..... i also had one more thing Should i let the woofers be without a filter i.e. eg play from 60 hz to 10 khz and put a tweeter with hf filter tp play from 2500 hz or should i keep it in a crossover ? Because both drivers play till max freq. Spectrum that they can handle rather than splitting it into 2.... which would be better ?? Crossover or direct ?

My god, why do people get all OCD on the fraction of a percent difference in a material used. Are they trying to show off their knowledge of acoustics? Geeze, I would rather have a badass beautiful speaker with great sound, than a regular sound perfect blah looking speaker that looks like a generic box any day. Your ear can hardly tell the difference in most reasonable cabinet materials, the design and components are the biggest factor as long as you're not building them out of cardboard or rice paper. You have to hook up a microphone and measure the difference in most cases when it's a small percentage like this.
