They make a cover that snaps over the strut channel opening allowing the strut to be used as an electrical wireway. This does away with the electrical conduit, you end up mounting the outlet boxes on top of the strut and hanging the light fixtures and power supply enclosures in the same manor.

Doug, I picked up a screw driver that has interchangeable #1 and #2 square ends. It makes wiring so much easier as the square drives do not slip on the screws like a straight blade or phillips can. Very nice workmanship.

@@HomegrownPassion Klien and Greenlee both sell multidrivers commonly used in the electrical trades. The 12 in 1 are popular, I find the 6 in 1 to be a better choice if used all day.

I did not. It went up big time here too. Very discouraging trying to buy supplies like strut, threaded rod, wire, electrical boxes etc...and seeing high the prices are compared to just 12 months ago. It's not good!!

Great led greenhouse lighting install Doug :) You are as meticulous as a surgeon. Katie will need some new sunglasses and big colorful beach hat !!!! Will the new LED lights be on a photo sensor switch or just manual , to maintain the correct plant quality light? The humidity that might get into the open holes over time is a fair question brought up by some others. Maybe just clear silicone the holes in the metal box , from back side ? The keep it simple rule :) HD or lowes should have some thicker, commercial - UV resistant quick ties for the extra black cord length over the rail. Maybe as a follow up led lighting video , talk about the hours per day required for plant lighting , the cost saving avg per month ( anticipated ) with the new efficient lights, expected bulb life, etc . You know the details behind your family farm thoughts on the investment , ROI and savings .Maybe create a "series" ( google prefers these) on each of your "parts of your greenhouse food / farming business ? Then each "series" can be added to and updated , over time . This will increase "viewing" , time on the channel , user education and enjoyment , etc.,. And when it is valid , mention the , other "series " when you are doing a new video , related to each series, at the end , thank you section. The complex , yet whole growing system you and Katie have created , is a public , global gold mine of knowledge . Please never under estimate your years of hard learned lessons. I can see , feel and understand the passion each family member has for farming , family and dang good , full flavored food for your community !!!! Thanks for everything you folks do . How did the back up oil boiler fix go , what was it ? In todays crazy shipping supply world. You get an extra pump , before you need it for the wood boiler. Back ups are terrible , as you well know for supply chains. Weird how the leaks are showing up ?? One thing I am wondering .... would an expansion Valve ( a hammer pipe in some parts of the country) in certain locations , within the plumbing system , reduce some of , or any pressure vibrations ? Looking forward to the next video . Good work on the video "tags " :) The competition are your al ready paid for guides to growing the channel and follower ###S :)

Thanks for the comment and great ideas. I'm going to have to keep reading it over again to get everything you said and hopefully put your suggestions to use. We want to grow the channel and still struggle with how to proceed. We do so much here on the farm. From everyday chores, greenhouse, Woodmizer sawmill, Doug building things (timber framing) so much more. I have wanted to keep the channel focused on the greenhouse, but Doug wants to expand and show everything that is being done to show what it takes to keep things going on a farm, greenhouse. William, we do appreciate you and your comments. Thank you for taking the time to help us!!

You make it look so easy. My hubby used to build big electric relay switching panels for a living I bet he'd know exactly what you're doing. His company closed but he, luckily, got a transfer to their other company and now builds all terrain fork lifts. I hope your LED lights do great for you. Mine are not fancy grow lights but im very pleased at how well they work for me in my tiny shelf set up.

I'm assuming that these lights are necessary to provide the additional boost that the tomato and cucumber plants need to grow year-round? Do you plan on only running the lights in the winter months?

what is the distance of your LED lights to the plants?
@HomegrownPassion
@HomegrownPassion 2 жыл бұрын
So, when we first hung the lights, they we are about 8 feet from the plants but now that the tomatoes have grown, they are 3 feet which is what was recommended by the manufacture. We had a light survey completed to figure everything out. Watch our prior light videos for more information. Thank you for the comment!
