I have been making green led fishing lights for 2 years, we submerge them which draws in the bait fish. I also rigged a yellow led strip overhead to keep the insects away, it works. I like the idea of the smaller battery, I have a couple of them which I will be trying. Thank you Kris!!!

I got a cheap Chinese Lithium Ion battery for $20 off ebay for my Fish Finder on my NuCanoe. A friend of mine said its a fire hazard but is 9 AH and it weighs a pound or less. I do have a large deep cycle battery for my trolling motor and its a pain to move around. I have been considering getting a small outboard to make life easy lol! LED is the way to go!

I have those same led strips in my duck blind, 4 of the 16 foot strips. I have them wired to the same type of battery that you bought, a 12V SLA but mine is only 7ah. We turn them on for probably an hour or so each morning, and hunted about 30 days last year- so they ran for roughly 30 hours in the cold (below 0 temps at the end of the season). After the season was over I pulled the battery out of a foot of snow and took it home, was still at 1/2 charge. So 30 hours and several weeks of below 0 temps and the battery was only half empty. So don't worry much about your battery draining- yours should never be below probably 80-90% after a night of fishing. Those batteries have a max draw of about 5 amps, no way you are pulling that with your humminbird and those lights... you may have a short somewhere.
@imnotimportant7 жыл бұрын
re: battery cutting power. you may have a bad battery or a battery that is not the marked rating which is common with those toy style batteries out of china.. no telling how long it sat at the store also. I use them for various projects, and just buy them off of amazon from reputable sellers. 12V 7ah are like $15, 9ah are around $18, and 12ah are about $25.

I run lawn mower derbys along with power wheel derbys, one thing i learn was about the power wheel battery and how long they would last while trying to have my kids have fun. while they work good and last some what long yet i swap out the power wheel batterys with lawn mower batters as they give more power to make them faster and last longer. they cost less then power wheel batterys and will give you a full year or fishing season for under $25 for lawn mower battery here where im at as they can be charge over and over on trickle charge to last about a year.

Juanelo you took the words right out of my mouth! Using those LED light strips for an effective lighting system that pulls a very low amperage draw is a great idea. The only concern I had was that I didn't know if those strips were waterproof or weatherproof. That along with his 12V Peg battery, it's perfect for that Walker Bay!! It's just amazing what Kris did with both of his Walker Bay boats! So Juanelo - when are you going to do this to your little boat?? My wife and I both look forward to your new videos every Sunday!
@Juanelo19467 жыл бұрын
Hi Bigginksu! You see how handy Kris is... well, I am NOT! I would electrocute myself. I would be the only blazing light on the boat. It would look cool though to have those LEDs all aglow around the SS Ms. Lulu, wouldn't it? Thanks for tuning into my Sunday show my friend! Say hi to your wife for Lulu and me!

I've been debating on doing something like this on my Jon Boat. Manly use it for close to home/small bodies of water. My concern is that the bugs at night would be pretty rough, and be all over. Not a huge deal just curious. Looks great btw, and I got my idea after seeing this, and getting tired of lanterns and flashlights. All though the LED lantern is legit, bugs fly straight to that bad boy.

Looks Great Kris. I got my LED lights from BluewaterLED.com so on the outside of my boat I have their black lights . I also have the red and green marker lights up front since my trolling motor blocks my my red and green light. I put a few LED small lights from Wal-Mart inside my boat that are white. They only use 3amps I believe

@imnotimportant7 жыл бұрын
It's literally the same battery, just a different "name". No such thing as a "kayak battery". Its just a 12V sla (sealed lead acid) battery that they rename to sell. Game feeder, toy car, kayak, DIY, ice flasher, portable fishfinder, and literally dozens of other names to sell the same battery (sometimes at 2-3 times the retail price).
