i would recommend sanding the top hole very minimally with a piece of 80 grit sandpaper wrapped around a rod shape like a paintbrush handle or pen. that allowed me to pass the LED strips through it without any resistance. you don't need to sand it much, the hole caps that come with it (part 147208) could still stick in the hole, but i used double sided tape to fix the slack on the cable and hid it inside the hole. i cut slits into the caps to allow the cable to pass through and put them back on. the Luke Light mounting brackets had bits of metal shavings hanging off. i used the same piece of sandpaper to lap the edges of those a little dull and pulled off any hanging metal so it didn't end up in my cabinet or cut the lighting strips. there should be enough cable slack to get to the floor and also hide the cable by taping it up underside of the back of the top wooden panel, then run it over to one of the corners and down it. it seems to vanish from the front completely. i just used double sided transparent tape to do that.

I have many detolfs and would like to order these, but I’m confused on if they are sold separately or do they come with led strips and aluminum strips with wires?

@@michaelbernal2709 The light kit(main set) & aluminum bracket(add-on) are sold separately, the light kit can be installed with or without the bracket depending your setup preference.

Looking good - I like the colour-changeable setups as well, but those lights do give a very clear impressive display.

Thank you so much for this video, it helped me out a lot. The only hiccup I had was that there was no 3m tape and the one I got from Amazon didn’t hold the leds well, so I had to use more than a quarter inch

Thanks for this; I basically followed all of your advice here. One question though: I used two pieces of double sided tape to adhere the light strips to the brackets instead of sticking them directly and noticed that they are sagging a bit and look like they are making contact with the diffusers. Can this cause me issues in the future?

Hiw did you run all of them to the usb hub? I'm still waiting on detolfs but looking at the lights themselves the usb cable seems kind of short

I snaked them down the top of the detolf. Put the USB hub in the center of the 6, there was more than enough slack. Had to use cords to wrap them up so they weren't cluttered. Had plenty of cord length to spare. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Why do you recommend using 3m tape on the inside instead of the tape that comes on the LEDs? Setting up mine now but saw your video and trying to decide what to do

The adhesive on the back is extremely adhesive, I tried to slightly reposition and ended up tearing the chord and only 1 strip of lights worked. Great service, they ended up replacing it at no cost. Going forward I used the straps in case I needed to make any modifications

I just installed my luke lights in 2 detolfs, and would actually recommend using the adhesive on the back of the LED strip. I went with the advice of the 3M double sided tape first, but the lights wouldn't stay attached inside the brackets. I had to go back and painfully peel off the 3M tape then re-apply the LED's with the adhesive backing as the manufacturer intended. They're firmly in place now, but as @A Dude's Nerdery said, it's very strong adhesive, so don't miss the target o the first try. The 3M transparent tape worked great though for attaching the brackets to the case. Also the dimmer switches are incredible, would highly recommend anyone who hasn't tried them yet in their luke light setup!

Yes, I ordered 3M double sided tape. I didn't use the backing on the lights bc they are super adhesive and can't be repositioned if needed.

So you have the USB end going out the top or bottom?

I ran the usb through the top. I did the 1st one from the bottom and didn't like the chord running on the side of the detolf. The USB won't fit through the top, you'll have to gently snake the led's down. It's a tight fit, but if you angle them right, they will drop through. Thanks for watching!

It's sold by components. The lights and the brackets are separate. They sell dimmers now too.

I wish they would show, how to install the diffuser covers on the v brackets, there a nightmare to get on. I broke a wire wrestling with the diffuser cover trying to get it on . These are the things nobody shows or talks about. I know these are fairly new and more collectors are starting to use them, but there needs to be a more informative video in depth of the whole process start to finish imo,

Yeah dude, it took me a while of trial and error to finally get it. I think the best method is to line it up, pop one whole side in, then push the other side down until it pops in. Seems to be the least path of resistance. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Those terrible Ikea pieces are way more visible, unpleasant to look at, require seeing every inch of wire instead of being able to hide it away, and are WAY more expensive when you actually buy all the pieces needed. Insert sarcastic laughing face here.
