Just seen another video and was super pissed because I used this method (not because of you, because I'm a genius mechanic) there's an easier way to do this you can go through wheel wells. Remove some of the inner fender liner clips enough to where you can clearly see the headlight assembly and have easier access to the bulbs and plugs.

Great video, absolutely brilliant. With me supplying my own bulbs, I was quoted £140 today from Honda to change the headlight bulbs for labour. £100 quoted from Halfords, it’s an absolute joke. Yes it’s annoying to remove the rivets & the design is poor. However it surely doesn’t take more than 30 minutes labour to do the job? I will give it a go doing it myself thanks to this video. Thank you again ❤

Thanks for posting this video. I've already changed out my foglights in my 2009 Honda Accord the wrong way and have the road rash to prove it. Before I change the headlights all to LED I'll have the clips handy. The previous owner gave up and used wire to fix the bumper back to the car already. It's still not easy to do it blind with bulky LED bulbs to get the metal clip over. I managed one side but then the other side the clip snapped so now I only have one headlight until a replacement clip arrives from eBay. And then to top it all off the battery tiedown bolts were rusted and sheared and some idiot before me has lost the cap on one of the headlights!! Car is cursed I swear. I will have to remove the bumper and remove the lights to fix it now.

Just a quick note, this was designed that way so it wouldn't be that easy for headlights to be stolen and to a furthur extent your car.

Stolen?? Didn't know that. Thanks for sharing, always thought it was so the manufacturer would be able to make more money.

Yes stolen, during the mid 90s & 2000s Hondas were marked as some of the easiest cars to be stolen and for good reason as they were some of the most stolen vehicles of those times. In the coming years Honda had to address that reputation and design their cars in such a way that wouldn't make them such an easy target.

Wow Well i knew they were easily stolen back then but i didn't know that was the reason behind making it so hard to change or remove the headlights! Cool thanks for that.
@Xbox360Barbados

Some were stolen by removal of the headlights also engines and transmissions as well. It wasn't a case where Honda said lets make it harder for people to replace bulbs, plus most modern vehicles are designed and manufactured more compact. When purchasing a car we don't ask how easy it is to change parts lol...you can research stolen Hondas of the 90s.

Yeah, I found out that you can save yourself a lot of extra work by just removing the top and bottom valances, the bumper cover, and then the headlight assembly. Change your bulbs, and then reverse the process. Does it make sense to have to remove the entire plastic front end of your car to change a light bulb? Nah, but like you said, with these clowns that design cars anymore, they haven't got any sense!

These lights are a disaster 😡 I have a 2009 accord and today I went and bought exactly the same 1 only 2011 and I wanted to change the bulbs took everything apart on the 2009 and for the Led bulb there is a aluminium box which is bolted to the light and connected to the bulb can't straight wire no connectors. Bolts seized couldn't open them had to put everything back together. The lights really are a disaster 😡😂

@@gamelife2578 Sound's like that has HID headlights? That box is a ballast i think. I think the bulb is called a D1. You can get Led's for them too. But it is stupidly difficult to change the bulbs in these car's.

Safe to say the 9th Gen Honda Accord is the worst Honda I've owned, stupid DPF issues, ABS pump and to top the list is the ridiculous headlight bulb changing, lovely looking car, but poorly designed. thankfully light at the end of the tunnel, it's gone and no longer my problem on Friday, going for 10th Gen Civic, such a better designed car all round.
