Know Your LED. Wattage measures the electrical power used and not the amount of light produced. 🔌

Choosing the right LED for your car has never been harder. So many products flooding the market are untested products and are falsely advertised. Let's talk about Lumens and do an actual test on some of the most popular LEDs in the market.

Companies like novsight advertise 70w pair with 15000 lumens, is it false advertising? I question myself how can such low power leds produce that many lumens. Is wattage not the main factor because it comes down to led chips efficacy? (Lumens per watt)

To date, the brightest we have tested is up to around 6.5k lumens per bulb. However, this is just the cold start; after a while, all LEDs gradually lose brightness as they heat up. Unfortunately, automotive LED figures have always been inflated for marketing purposes. Unless you see proof of actual tests, we recommend being cautious about unproven claims. Wattage can be an indicator of a bulb's potential, but it isn't the be-all and end-all. It should be considered along with the sum of its parts how they allow the bulb to perform at its peak and how long it can maintain this performance.

Hi, can I go for a higher wattage bulb than using the recommended one from my vehicle's manual? Will it affect my wirings or will it withstand the heat from the higher wattage bulb?

Hey @Zaworudo, Short answer: Yes, you can but we advise against doing it. Long answer: higher wattage bulbs tend to produce more heat, which can put extra strain on your vehicle's electrical system. Extra heat produced could also damage the headlight housing. Higher wattage bulbs also tend to have shorten lifespan

How do you set the voltage an A to test the bulb wattage?
@LEDWORKSPHIILIPPINES

Thanks for asking, we simply set the voltage at about 13.4-13.6 V which we is the typical voltage of cars that are idle or turned on.

My car recommended wattage is 55W but i got a 60W headlight would it affect the wiring or something?

Thanks for asking, a 60W bulb may not pose much of an issue as opposed to some of our customers sporting 55W HID's or 75W Halogen bulbs. Some headlights with H4 bulbs actually have bulbs that do 55W low beam and 60W High beam. But again, your mileage might vary, please just check your headlights and wires for any signs of deterioration. But our educated guess is, they should'nt be that much of an issue. However, as a suggestion, instead of keeping a 60W halogen bulb (Assuming you have halogens there) i would rather replace that with an LED where you can get the same levels of brightness but for lower power requirements.

Can we use 70 watt led bulb in 55 watt hologen headlight?

We haven't seen much of those 70W LED bulb in the market. Is this 70W a piece or 35W individually? What matters here is that the LED bulb doesn't get too hot on the base, else you run the risk of burning ro damaging the headlight case.

What do you use to test the led bulbs? The thing you are using to power them up and see the wattage.

He is using DC power supply, i have it, but to use it? to know the bulb wattage?
@LEDWORKSPHIILIPPINES

Yes we are using a DC Power supply. Vehicles operate with DC power so this what we use.

You don't need to set the wattage, you just need to set the Voltage and since our bulbs are designed for 12V vehicle, we set it around 13.4-13.6 as we observed most vehicle on idle stay around this range.
