Если посмотреть на конкурентов БМВ по части оптики лед габаритов, то ни в Мерседесе, ни в Ауди не было вплоть до 2010 года, в Мерседесе W210 там используется обычные лампочки накаливания, W211 кузове тоже не было такой технологии освещения, и только в Мерседесе в кузове W212 появилась лед габариты, получается БМВ на целую десятилетия обогнал всех.
