LED turn signal blinkers need either a resistor or decoder to prevent hype flash. So which one is better? Resistor runs hotter than decoder after about 15 mins.

The heat the resistor gives off can change depending on the resistor some vehicles have a wider range that they could get fooled by, could be 6 ohms, could be 8 ohms. or you could run 2 resistors in parallel to split the heat and have less chance of damage.

Not even close! After two minutes i grabbed my resistor and my hand instantly blistered. That's 350°+

I've used MAXGTRS decoders for my turnsignal LEDs and worked but after a couple of minutes it still gets very hot that the turnsignal lights starts to hyperflash again and won't blink back normally til it cools back down. Better use the newer turnsignal lights with no hyperflash mechanisms built-in to it.

Decoder is most likely a capacitor to stabilise pulsing on DRLs, resistor is just to trick bulb checking circuit.

U mean the flasher? I did that on my tsx ..works well ....now I have a problem with having led brake lights since I have aftermarket car alarm with remote start ...the led brake light tends to confuse the alarm system that my remote start doesn't work ..smh

Can't believe I came across this comment. I have the same issue with my aftermarket remote start. I never thought about it being from the LED brake lights. Did you find a fix for it?
