At least I’m not the only one who thinks that ! I’ve a 55” LG 4K mid range model. It’s fairly nice tbf, but the contrast sucks and it just throws the whole image off in a totally dark room 😭

Later model sets use a new type of Led, manufacturing cutbacks no doubt, where the led chip is mounted on the pcb with no casing surrounding it, over time the phosphor which now has nothing to hold it onto the led becomes brittle with the heat, cracks and falls off

Ahh yeah I’ve seen the what I call blob leds Mike. The user manuals should state that the brightness is always set high from factory and needs adjusting to a much safer level as low as the person watching can bare. My dads 2016 Samsung led set which is used around 8 hours a day, set at 45 brightness is still running perfectly and looks fine.

Absolutley correct, I have recently come across 3 different vestel sets where the back light setting is greyed out and can't be turned down, of if it can its been made deliberetley very difficult to find how it's done so the set won't last long.

@@michaeldranfield7140 bang on Michael! They have done it on purpose, like what, why sabotage people ? Even on the economy mode on some of the newer 55” Toshibas Vestels can’t be changed at all. I guess the only way to reduce it manually would be to modify the feedback on the driver 🙃 At least Samsung, Lg and others haven’t been that harsh to people yet…….

I'm in the United States and I'm looking for the LED kit for an OLED55c6p. The TV was manufactured in 2017 are the LED strips for the LG's universally compatible?

Hi mate! Thanks for the video! I think I can do that by myself, that would be a first time by the way, but that's doable. I have the exactly the same problem with my 70 inch tv. What is the name of that part you installed, I'll see if that is worth to buy instead of a whole new tv.

LED strip kit. I took mine to a local TV repair shop that was recommended by LG support and he swore up and down that it was the panel itself that was bad until I showed him this video
