Followed step by step with a successful repair. $40 and some minimal effort for a $400 TV is a hell of a black Friday deal. THANK YOU

I want to express much appreciation for your video. It helped me fix my 65UJ6300-UA TV. It was perfectly shown and it took me a lot longer than your video but it very clear. I was slow because I don't usually do this but you gave me the confidence! Again, thank you🙂My TV picture looks brand new!!😎

I replaced mine with the help of this video, so thank you! I saved myself a few hundred instead of replacing my TV. Took me about 3 hours (because I'm overly-cautious). I have some notes based on my experience that will hopefully help others: The address bars on the bottom have some sort of fabric-like tape. It's okay to remove them when disassembling the bezel frame, just don't cut them because you can stick them back on later. The reflector frame is a hassle to remove. Just pull up on the frame gently while prying the bezel clips. Most importantly, carefully align the LEDs before taping them down. You have to ensure the raised circular bumps on the frame align with the holes in the led strips. I had to cut holes into the double sided tape so the strips could make proper contact with the frame.

Just successfully repaired my 86" using this as a guide and parts from shopjimmy. The suction cups are a must and I recommend getting them a little wet before you grab, at least that was the case with a big panel. I initially dropped mine about 6" but luckily nothing broke.

Thank u shop jimmy!! I fixed my 82 inch lg tv. It had a couple more parts than this one but it was more or less the same. Picture is great now. Keep doing these videos!

Could you move the 82" screen by hand safely? I see he's using suction cups, which I already don't have and I'm worried about damaging my larger screen.

I don't recommend moving a screen that big with only 2 suction cups. The screen is super super fragile. You need at least a 6 suction cup set up. Search online a bit and you'll see what I'm talking about. You need the set up where all the suction cups are connected to make it more rigid.

Some notes. The edges of this thing are SHARP, and I don't mean the brand. Do not try to lift it for leverage with your bare hands. If your model has a power button in the bottom middle, it just slides off once the back is removed. There's another screw underneath that has to be unscrewed afterwards. some of the procedures shown in this are incredibly difficult on real models, and it may be worth paying someone insured to do it. I had to sever ribbons that appeared to be plain cloth to free the chips, and even then I had to saw off a plastic tab with a razor blade to free one of them without damaging the circuit board. I also cut my hands on the frame nearly a dozen times and bled all over the the light filters, and broke the plastic bevel layer in two places while trying to release the snaps. Only to find that when I finally reached the light strips, apparently I had followed the link on v=Lv4pJgwHYjs instead and accidentally ordered the wrong part. At this point I do not have high hopes of successful repair when the right part comes in. They make it look easy in this video because this unit has already been disassembled in the past. This is not my first time repairing sensitive electronics, but nonetheless I'm an amateur and would recommend caution to other amateurs. In my case I don't really care too much if the TV can't be fixed, so it's not a huge loss, but if your TV is important to you and you wish to avoid having to replace it with a new one, it's likely worth getting someone experienced specifically in large TV repair to do it.

Finally finished the install, and by some miracle, the tv isn't completely bricked. Unfortunately the new lighting array is oddly visible when viewing dark pictures Maybe I somehow misaligned the filters? Not the only thing wrong with it though. I had to get very rough to get those circuits free, and I think that damaged the display causing a permanent line through it. This TV's been a mistake from day 1, gonna junk it and be happy to be rid of it. Never gonna buy LG again, TV's whites turned blue within 6 months of purchase and the damn thing's too big and heavy to deal with warranties.

Thanks for this info. Could easily just buy a new tv but gonna try anyway worse case is I brick it tv has served its purpose worked for 7 years just get a new one. Who knows maybe contribute less e-waste if somehow pull this off successfully.
@vinhluu21546 ай бұрын
I didn't touch the circuits too much. I put small boxes underneath the TV to raise it so the circuits didn't touch anything when I flipped it over to get to the screen. But I agree, my 65" was a bit unwieldy and took quite an effort physically as well as finding space to rest the disassembled parts. Additionally, I learned I could tilt the edges towards the center of the TV to get them out of the clips. I'm amazed it worked out for me and every part came back together, with great results. I'm admiring the TV as I'm typing this 😂

@kylehelmer38252 жыл бұрын
Will really just depend on the TV, if you can see that one of LEDs is burnt out you could go about fixing the one, but it’s probably be simpler to fix the whole strip.

@@shopjimmy I did. And did the install successfully. Thanks for the video, pretty much works exactly the way you did it. The power drill I just got and not well acquainted with was too powerful and shredded the heads of the screws holding the inside panel together. It will be hell trying to do this repair again. If there's any advice I can give someone doing this is be delicate with the screws, the heads are delicate. Especially when screwing them on. The hardest part was getting the back panel off, was afraid of breaking the front sheet/glass/whatever. You have to be pretty forceful. And a putty knife is essential. Also you don't need 2 sided tape, it's already on the strips.

@t4796 Жыл бұрын
The problem with this model tv is the little covers on top of the leds break down resulting in the blue light instead of white. It's not because of a few faulty leds, so your solution would not work for the model demonstrated if the fault was blue tinge to screen.
