Hello, I think you have a good instinct for theme...and I agree that especially the intros of these songs have a "haunting" quality. But its not so easy picking one song that best embodies it. Or even one of them. You said it yourself, this is an especially profound group. I love how they encourage each other.... And while Plant always has something in his ecstatic wails that communicates other worldliness, what really puts me on the floor is Page: his timing (especially in intros) and dramatic use of the acoustic guitar.

Yes I totally get the haunting music Wayne. I was 13yrs old the 1st time I heard Led Zeppelin and they taught me how to feel and I loved it and I have adored and followed them 45+yrs...the haunting is the 1st time I loved music outside of my parents.. my 1st song I ever heard was Black 🐈‍⬛ dog it was pure freaking 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 they have been my #1 for the rest of my life. Wayne I paid a grip of money to buy a limited edition version of Jimmys last book, he signs 2500 of all the products he puts out and I got book #2104 and I want to be buried with it. I have loved Jimmy Page my whole life. Thank you so much for your reviews

OK first just let me Say, Loving the Full LP Reactions! 👍 Second, in ZEPPELIN There wasn't one Member that lended the Most to that " Haunting " sound I believe you called it? The Four Members were A Symbiotic Fusion that Created their Unique Sound! That's why When BONZO Passed, LED ZEPPELIN! The TRUE LED ZEPPELIN, was No More! And far as The Song , Babe I'm gonna Leave You. It was ZEPPELIN'S SPIN on an Old Irish Folk Song that JOAN BIAZ remastered in the Late 50's. It was About a Soldier that is being called away to War, and is Agonizing over having to leave his Girl! So you hit that one Right on the Nose! Great Reactions Sir! 😁

I grew up throughout High School with Zeppelin Graduating in 74 seen them 5 times in concert we couldn’t wait for a new album to come out and my favorite led 1 and Led 4 are very close I lean towards 1

Just been watching/listening to your Led Zeppelin reactions, quite enjoyable. Been digging your reactions since I saw your reaction to The Kids Are Alright. So, I'm taking on your challenge for a testimony...but I'm breaking the rules, so this might be a bit long. I love Zeppelin! They're one of my favorites and I think they're as important to rock history as The Beatles. I remember when my dad played his cassette of LZ2 for me when I was 12. I was hooked. Dad was good at that; he would regularly play his records and tapes to introduce me to different music. He'd say, "If you like The Beatles, check out Tge Rolling Stones" or "If you like Pink Floyd, you need to listen to this tape of King Crimson." During my teenage years, I absorbed as much Zeppelin music as I could. I remember watching the MTV Rockumentary about Led Zeppelin and being further impressed by the live Danish clip of "How Many More Times". So, LZ1 was the first Zep album I got--i had heard some of their other albums, but this was my first deep dive into the Led rabbit hole. This is my favorite Zep album because when I hear this, I hear an immensely talented band, playing like they had a lot to prove whilst casting their lot in with The Who, Blue Cheer and Jimi Hendrix. "Good Times Bad Times" and "Communication Breakdown" were the statements of intent; "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" is a haunting experiment in light and shade; "You're Time Is Gonna Come/Black Mountain Side" is the pastoral calm; "You Shook Me," "I Can't Quit You" and "How Many More Times" are as good of a final statement on the British Blues of the sixties as "Louisiana Blues" by Savoy Brown.

Music of course so very objective and personal to each individual. In one of your earlier LZ uploads you mentioned something that I knew but could not put my finger on until you said it. THE RYTHYM SECTION !!! Knowing how talented all four musicians were and are I came to appreciate John Paul Jones in so many more ways, Bonham is, well just a force of nature but Jones was such a subtle master of pitch and tone it makes my mind literally melt. The Lemons Song simply mystifies me. I heard their first album in the fall of 1986 when I was 15 and never looked back. I did not quite know what to think of the album at first but i could not move away from it. You mentioned haunting and you are dead on in this assessment. For myself it will always remind me of a brisk fall evening waling down a wooded lane, the moon full in the sky, with a bite to the air and winter coming soon. Keep up your thoughtful insights !!

Firstly , this is a f …ing incredible album ! It is a masterpiece. Every member of this band is superb . Jimmy Page is the architect of this sound and he knew exactly what he wanted to create when he left the Yardbirds. He then found these magnificent musicians to attain it . Secondly , thank you Wayne for having the intelligence and taste to fully appreciate this band : I have seen some other people react to Zeppelin on You tube and they don’t totally get it .

I totally agree with you. Ive listened to you since the beginning. I am a longtime Zeppelin fan. I saw them in 1969 and they did the entire first album.. I have listened to it a thousand times and each time it becomes more and more apparent of their genius. The problem now is that its hard to listen to anyone else. I think what enhances the haunting quality of Zeppelin's first album is the clever decision Page made in overlapping the songs. Other than turning the album over from side one to side two, there wasn't a break. That was incredibly dope, high from a joint, lying between two speakers. What an emotional ride!

Honestly I heard songs from LZ 1 in passing LZ11 was the first I bought and then I came back to 1. I was blown away. I was very much a hippie so this was way different than my usual Lovin Spoonful, Jefferson Airplane ,Bob Dylan etc. But you know what my musical taste encompasses it all. The older I got the more I realized just how great they are. Now I am addicted and need a daily fix. Thanks Wayne

I first heard this album through my brother's closed bedroom door, he wouldn't let me in - told me this music wasn't for little girls lol. As soon as he went out with his mates I put this on and played it through and I was floored!! It totally changed my musical outlook, it felt very exciting and dangerous and so 'grown up' to me. The rhythm section always gets me, from the very first listen, and this is the draw for me but the combination of all 4 of them is truly unbeatable. I really cannot pick a favourite, especially not off this album!!

Ok, I'll play. I came of age in the 70's and was exposed to my brothers Grand Funk Railroad records. I gravitated to Styx and The Doors before going to college. First happy hour, band was playing In the Evening (not a favorite but...) Introduced me to Zep and I dug into their collection from there. Love the early blues rock and my favorite is Physical Graffiti. Love you input man.

Which musician do I think contributed most to that "haunting" sound? Definitely Page but, man, no one could emote with voice better than Plant. Watching these unblocked Zeppelin videos is such an unexpected treat! Absolutely love your commentary. :) Edit: I love this album, as well as the second. I ran out and bought them as soon as they dropped. They hit me so hard that I still have a strong emotional attachment to them, and they remain my favorites to this day.

The Wizard is Page qho got the band off the ground. Led Zep caused me to retire half mt record cpllection, like Deep Purple.

I think people today do not understand "acid rock". For instance, the guitar solo in You Shook Me would just go right to your spinal cord and brain if you were doing acid, giving rushes and more. The effects and style were designed to produce a physiologic response in people doing hallucinogens. It's fantastic music if you're stone cold sober, too, but there was a method to the madness.

This is art music i wouldn't call iui t acid rock i am from the 60 and 70's and they calledvit acid rock because back then they were dropping acid to this kind of music but they actually missed out on the pure music and couldn't really appreciate it they were to out of the minds you don't need to do any drugs to listen to this music because it's to good
