You guys said modern rock bands would not be familiar with this style? Almost every rock band and musician today would sell their soul to be part of Led Zeppelin. There is not a part of the music industry that was not influenced by Led Zeppelin from recording in the studio to how to tour or how to not give up control to the record companies. It’s no exaggeration to say they are the most important band from 1969 to 1976. The sound originated from the bass player who wanted to make a song that would be difficult dance to ad it’s named after an old dog that was hanging around. That and most rock and hip hop is rooted in the blues they were a heavy blues bad.

Yes man. It's a blues song. Led Zeppelin is largely inspired by the blues in its rock music. Try, In My Time Of Dying. Thanks Dyce. By the way, the title has nothing to do with the content of the song.

An excellent top shelf choice man! Bought this album when it came out. Been a fan since they started in 1969. The whole album is killer. But I've always felt anything by Led Zeppelin is badass. This song is just plain oh yeah! 🤟🤟👍👍got some truth in it too. Been there to many times.

The REAL reason they called this song Black Dog is because a Black Dog that lived in the studio where they recorded this song walked in the studio when they were doing the song... it's as simple as that...look it up... I'm not lying....

Zep is all styles primarily of folk country blues rock , ,.They did perform easy mid tempo to Samba on a song called Fool in The Rain . They were very experimental ..

FYI, the term "black dog" is jargon/code currently being used by military/intelligence/police agencies in the United States to designate the terrifying dogman creature that people have been encountering in wooded and rural areas.

They couldn’t think of a name for the song while they were recording at Headley Grange which is a castle in England. …there was a black dog that kept coming over to the property so they just named it after the dog.
