I'd kill to look half as good as Jimmy. why is he so cool
@joannparker19772 жыл бұрын
Back then, Robert Plant lived in my hometown of Austin Texas. He lived in this small house in a hip neighborhood. At Halloween, he’d decorate his house and hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters. So cool. My daughter went to the University of Texas at Austin and ran into him one time while he was hauling out boxes of books, putting them in the trunk of an old station wagon. Nice guy she said. She didn’t ask for his autograph; she felt like he should be able to live like a regular person. She was only 19 then. As someone who’s 62, had I been there I would have been in freak-out mode.

If I ran into Plant I would do something totally dorky like "We're not worthy'. I would want to think I would be all cool and collected but, hey, it's Robert Plant. I mean, I live in the same town and was friends with the mom of one of the guys in Cheap Trick. And once, when my family went to France to visit relatives, on the way home we had the Grateful Dead across the aisle from us - and kept trying to buy me a glass of wine even though I was only 17 at the time and with my mother. So, being around famous rockers is something that has happened in my life and I did not make a fool of myself. But, in the case of a member Zeppelin - that is a different story. But, I did read more then once that Plant is one of the nicest, most down to earth and accessible rockers out there.

Robert is 73, Jimmy is 78, John Paul is 76, and John Bohnam would have been 74 this year. I'm afraid this might be a decade when we are going to lose many of the greats. So sad. We just lost Burke Shelley of Budgie at the age of 71. I'm telling you, as you age, this just doesn't sound so old any more. You should do a tribute to Burke Shelley. They did some awesome music. I just know there are some Budgie fans in here! Breadfan anyone?

@@vovindequasahi Great words of wisdom! It's seeming that the older I get, the faster it goes and I would truly like to slow down. I haven't been on a real vacation since I was 25 and I'm 55 now. Your reactions are exactly what ours were when they burst onto the music scene. Such talent and such a force! I've watched a lot of reactions by others but you're the best! Request: can you make playlists of the groups you're covering to make it easier to find all of your reactions to a specific group over time, or to rewatch your reactions to specific songs by that group? Although I agree that Plant really re-captured the original vocal (surprisingly/wonderfully), what surprised me most watching Celebration day was how Plant's voice has aged so well. On many of the other songs he's adapted the vocal approach...(err...somewhat more distinguished, if you can call a deep swamp doo wop linger distinguished) and it much better suits their blues grooves. They've all brought their experience to the concert, and it's truly a joy in every song, even the ones I liked less. Perhaps you've seen the entire film...a glorious thank you via a wondrous (mature/seasoned) stomp, and a much better place to end their story than 'Bonham and gone...'

Plant & Zeppelin have, are, & will always be my #1…it’s with great confidence I say Black Dog live has been a call/response song. It was when I saw them & in every live video I’ve watched and every live bootleg & even in the 90’s when Plant & Page were touring he did it. May I ask what year the show was that you were at?? We have a mystery on our hands here Sally lol 😂 I do enjoy a good mystery!!!

Om….,no. Watch the video from 1973 of Black Dog at MSG. He did the same. That’s why the entire audience KNEW to sing back to him. They’d seen it a thousand times before! It doesn’t happen on the record, obviously, but in the live performances from close to the beginning. So perhaps Freddie got it from Robert. 😁h
