Why Zeppelin was the greatest, they had a request for 20 million tickets for this concert
@johnsample56282 жыл бұрын
The O2 holds about 20,000, but when the announced Led Zeppelin was going to do a full length show 20,000,000 people tried to get tickets. Wrap your head around that!

This was the third song in that night. Up until Black Dog, it was hard to guess how this night might go. They did good versions of Good Times Bad Times and Ramble On to open the show, but they were having intermittent sound/monitor problems in the beginning, and you could tell they were a little tentative. About half way thru Ramble On, they "flipped the switch," and the show got progressively better and better, climaxing at Kashmir, which was flawless. But once they hit Black Dog, they were firing on all cylinders, and you knew this was going to be a special show. You no longer were asking yourself: " can they do it?," you were just thinking: "wow!"

Perfectly put. I personally can't deny having a little anxiety that it could taint my memory of Led Zeppelin in some way. Then again, this is Led Zeppelin we're talking about. How could it not have been epic?

Your look of wonder at the end, rendered speechless. So cute! Phenomenal band still in 2007. Jason did an incredible job standing in for his Dad.

The whole show is just amazing and it's worth doing in order.... Agree with the comment earlier about "flipping the switch" after a couple of tracks.. But the show is memorable for the fact that you didn't see three old codgers and a young kid performing and disappointing an audience with sub standard versions of their glory days... You got to see LED ZEP with Jason Bonham play a barnstorming concert playing fantastically for guys of their age and not disappointing on a single song. Quite remarkable and worth high praise and all the kudos in the world... Keep on Rocking... OH YES.. The drum kit Jason is playing is his dad's from when John played with them... Frickin awesome.

This was the 3rd song of the concert. When you watch the concert as a whole, You can feel them being a bit nervous and cautious during the first 2 Songs... but it was during Black Dog when something special ignited. After That, they ran with that flame through the night.

20 million people from 60+ countries requested tickets (broke the world record), arena capacity was 20,000. Great performance, and I enjoyed your reaction to it. Edit: Glad to hear that you'll react to all the songs from this concert. You'll enjoy them all. :)

This was performed 34 years after the performances you saw from, The Song Remains The Same" concert, from 1973 to 2007. And as I commented on another one of your reaction videos, where Robert lacked in range later on he makes up for in character and diversity. He also really developed a vocal flow and building of tension, anticipation with his vocals.

This show was amazing and a long time coming. As everyone knows they stopped playing after the death of John Bonham in 1980. Over the years Robert, Jimmy and John Paul got together for one off performances here and there. Including, what was considered a disaster at Live Aid in '85 with Phil Collins on the drums. This show was their first full set, about 2 hours, in over 2 decades. And who better to have behind, his father's, old drum kit than Jason Bonham. Of course he knew all the songs growing up around these guys. My favorite from this show is Kashmir, from "Physical Graffiti". Some others the Ocean, Rock and Roll and Stairway of course.

It was a stunning night and the band excelled themselves given the break between playing the songs. I later attended the Celebration Day premier in London when Page Plant and Jones appeared before the movie. And I was blown away again sitting in the Hammersmith Apollo with an outstanding sound system to hear it through.

I was at Earls Court London in 1975 aged 21 see first time this iconic if not the greatest band of all times along with The Beatles Now 68 it will remain in my top five concerts of all time I attended Wanted to see this reunion so bad tickets were going at £7000 or more on line. No chance for a fan sad part was seeing so many no mark talentless nobodies pitching up to attend. They know nothing about the music or the band it’s just the place to be seen denying real fans from way back to see this god like band preform one last time

Sound quality and all that granted but these guys shit is tight!
@zer0thzero4282 жыл бұрын
You're right about the latter day sound quality difference. I just wish the theologically committed could remember that when they blithely direct reactors to extended 30 minute jams from the early seventies. Never mind the quality, feel the width. Objectively -- for me -- the real magic occurred under Page's direction in the studio. Live you lose layers of guitar and gain slop... not so bad if you were there but it doesn't bear the poorly recorded live retelling. I saw them at Earls Court '75 - as I recall Page broke a finger in a train door a couple of months before, his guitar cable cut out on the opening song (R&R) and my main thought was that they could use an extra touring guitarist to fill the gaps. This comment will likely go down like a lead balloon.

The band REALLY wanted to sound amazing as most of their post LZ reunion concerts were very underwhelming / poor performances etc. One such was Live Aid where Jimmy was very drunk and they needed 2 drummers, one who apparently didn't know the songs! ; then at Atlantic anniversary concert they were again "off" ...so, any way .. in this 1, they practiced for like 2 months and put efforts to sound top form.

I really don't want to piss on anyone's cornflakes here, and Led Zeppelin IS the best band ever assembled, but seriously Robert's heyday voice was a distant memory long before this concert. For their age, they made a really good fist of it, but to say this was anything other than a retirement fund is bewildering.
