Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

I've always liked this unusually short Led Zeppelin song. I've come to realize that it's perhaps the best little introductory piece to give to someone who is new to Led Zeppelin - both because it's an excellent demonstration of the band's skill, and because it's not much lengthier in duration than a typical song sample.

One of the few tunes Page sang background vocals on. The guitar solo is ridiculous , the vocals will shred your throat, and bass/drums kick your butt. 1st song, 1st side, 1st Zeppelin album. They got everyones attention. They still do.

The best bands have two things in common. A great lead singer and a great lead guitar. When they play, it’s not so much as a singer and guitar play but more like a duet. Led Zeppelin, The Who, Van Halen, The Rolling Stones….

My wife and I started dating in 1970. We played this 8-track in my 1966 Mustang more than anything else. I am half deaf now, but it was worth it. We still love each other, and this album, and still have the 8-track (somebody totaled the Mustang).
