Unfortunately Robert and Jimmy will never reunite as Led Zeppelin. In 1985 at the American Live Aid it took Phil Collins to talk them down and convince them to play for the sake of the fans, but sadly that was the end of the road, they briefly reunited for one album and a tour I think in 2001? But they seem to eventually get on each other's nerve.

So true. They changed things up a lot from one to another, so it pays to explore. I like to start with the studio versions as a musical/arrangement/production baseline, which helps in understanding some of what they do live. I recommend "I'm Gonna Crawl", which is the last song on their last "real" album before Bonham died. Nobody seems to remember this one but it's actually really good. It's a much slower song than most of theirs but still has a great groove to it.

Led Zeppelin was doing some studio recording with a string section one time and one of the violinists ask Page if he had ever considered trying to play with a bow. Page didn't think it would work, but tried it anyway, and saw that it had great potential, so he went out and bought his own bow. The rest is R & R history. Interesting side note, the violinist who proposed the idea was the father of actor David McCallum, who played in the sixties TV show "The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and currently plays Dr. Mallard on N.C.I.S.

It was the father of David McCallum of The Man From UNCLE and NCIS fame who told Jimmy to try using a bow. After trying it he went out and bought his own. The first I saw LZ in 73 when he pulled it out I said to myself WTF. Then my jaw hit the floor. Saw them again in 75 and 77 all in Detroit

Cool. I've never seen that video before, and I've been a fan of Led Zeppelin since 1979. But I think the sync is off. There's another film out there of LZ playing songs from their first album, like "Good Times, Bad Times" and "How Many More Times." But it's in black and white and from a show in Sweden, if I recall correctly. This video really gives a sense of how loudly Jimmy Page had his guitar cranked up. It seemed ready to feed back at any time Page took his hand off the strings. Anyway, these guys are now old men and Robert Plant even has his own KZbin channel as well. I liked your reaction.
