You’re so right about no pretense. There was a lot of debate about whether they “stole” music. It sucks that they got so rich when the blues and R&B masters got ripped off, but you never get the sense that LZ is adopting a style for any reason other than they truly love it.

I knew you would love this song. You should hear the other songs from this same acoustic set. They are all great. When you react to “The Rain Song “ please do not make the same mistake as many do. it must be played together with ,” The Song Remains the Same/The Rain Song” the two songs are always to be played together. I would recommend reacting to the live 1973 Madison square garden concert ,also “since I’ve been loving you” also live at msg. You will also be very impressed. Here’s a couple more suggestions,”Tea for one” and “Achilles Last Stand” . As you are learning there are no bad zeppelin songs only timeless masterpieces. performed by 4 masterful musicians. each have perfected their instruments. And in 1969 the band turned the whole music industry on their heads. With there diversity and ability to experiment bringing rock together with blues. They could go in any direction they wanted. Hard Rock, Soft Rock, Acid Rock, Psychedelic,Blues, Funk, Soul, Ballads Gospel,Reggae even a little country . Every zeppelin song is unique and touches a different part of your soul. This is a deep rabbit hole you slipped into.there will come a point to where you will feel like you need to start at the beginning the first album every song is different. Well hang on and enjoy your journey

I enjoy watching people get into a band that have been my favorite since I first heard them, and seeing them react like i did so many years ago, to the mastery and variety of the best band ever.. I enjoy that.. and 2nd, watching the live clips, hearing Roberts voice, the endless thunder of Bonzo, the expertise of Page and JPJ manipulating their instruments to literally make them speak.. it just reaffirms to me that Led Zeppelin was one of kind, never to be duplicated.. they really did catch lightning in a bottle.. and will always be the GOAT

If you look in front of John Paul Jones at the end of the song there is a row of what appear to be organ pedals. He would use them to play bass with his feet, something he would have learned as a church organist. Saw them at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto in 1971 when Led Zeppelin III came out and he did it that night. They did an acoustic set of several songs seated just as you see them here. This might be one of their best performances on KZbin. Great choice.

There are a lot of references to Joni Mitchell in this song. Page loved her music and said her music brought him to tears. Page and Plant writing about the “girl … with flowers in her hair” out in the canyon (i.e., Laurel) certainly fits Mitchell’s profile. In the final verse. “‘To find a queen without a king, they say she plays guitar, cries, and sings’ references ‘I Had a King,’ the first song on Mitchell’s debut album. If you really want to hear one of the great artists ever, do some reactions to Joni, you will not be disappointed.

I moved to California in 1999, went straight to Hollywood, found a place one block off Hollywood blvd. to begin my adventure. Had to go back to my home state due to health in 2010. I've never been the same. I feel like my 'real true love' is back there, and I stay here heartbroken. I'm glad to be alive, but sometimes wonder if it's worth it.(Not at all suicidal, just feel stuck.) Great Reaction as always. Sorry, just miss my beloved, {SoCal}😪
