@@ZalMoxis if you are referring to CODA, that one is “only” fantastic. However, it is made up of tracks that did not make it onto one of their studio albums. The “patchy” nature of it is due to it having sounds from their 8 studio albums all together. But I still say, listen again. We’re Gonna Groove, Wesring and Tearing, Walter’s Walk, all great songs. On the deluxe edition, Baby Please Cone on Home and Hey Hey What Can I Do are two of the best songs they ever did. And if you are referring to In Through the Out Door, then there is actually something wrong with you hahahaha

Now that you have heard the studio version, you should check out their live version as well. At 8:47 that triplet fill by John Bonham is part of the greatness of Led Zeppelin and why they really couldn't carry on after he died - he could throw that fill (or fills like it) in at anytime he wanted live. The level of musicianship combined with the spontaneity these 4 guys had together was off the charts. Bands would be trying to nail that drum fill for days and have to re-record and overdub it into the recording. He hit it live, as they were playing the song live, in the studio as the tape was rolling.

A group of my school friends and I had been out for a walk in the Malvern Hills (not far from where Jimmy and Robert lived at the time) with our Physics master and we got back to the master's house and one of my friends had just got the album. We sat round and listened to it and it blew my mind. I already had a couple of Zeppelin albums and this was just too good to be true. I went out and bought it the next day. One of LZ's most powerful songs. Original blues song by Blind Willie Johnson, "Jesus Make Up My Dying Bed." You gotta see the live version from Earls Court, 1975; fire! At the end of the studio recording, Robert said "Make it my dying cough." lol They were kidding around.
@joeldf6859
@joeldf6859 3 жыл бұрын
Except that it's not original to Blind Willie either. He recorded "Jesus Make Up My Dying Bed" in '27, released in '28, but the roots of the song go back before that. Lyrics to "Jesus goin' a-make up my dyin' bed" were actually transcribed in a book about unknown street singers published in 1925, so some of the lyrics go back to who knows how far before that. Reverend JC Burnett recorded a song called "Jesus Is Going to Make Up Your Dying Bed" in '26. Blind Willie's version came after that. By '33, Josh White recorded "Jesus Gonna Make Up My Dying Bed" and other variations between '44-'46 as "In My Time of Dying". That one was the basis for Bob Dylan's version in '62 and Zeppelin's version here in '75. There's several other variations along the way as well, but the point is that for those that think this is a Blind Willie original (not saying just you), just don't really know the history of it. In fact a lot of blues songs have lines that carry down from before much of them were recorded on wax cylinder, direct to disc, or later, on tape.

"You can lie to yourself, but that ain't the best way to live." Great reaction video with a side of wisdom. But tbh, you had me at "roller coaster".

John Bonham was in construction in the early days of the band. Naturally he put that power to good use.

You totally rocked that reaction. One of my favorite Zep tunes. While I enjoy all your reactions, this is one my all time favorites. You are geniune and it reminds me of my much younger years jamming with my still best friend of 40+ years to the awesomeness that is Led Zeppelin
