@M 40 : Exactly! Jimmy has different versions of this same song at different times of his life, which amazes me. The whole band were rock jazz. The first time I heard the live version of Stairway to Heaven I thought that only he would dare to add more arrangements only in the accompaniment harmony, not to mention the extended guitar solo.

I choose one band before in term of talent at every position and it's Iron Maiden. Led Zep and Maiden are my favorite band : )
@MichaelRCarlson4 жыл бұрын
@@stephane7607 Those are my two top favorites also. Both very different and both the best at what they do. Both are so diverse and creative. But talent wise, I think Zep has the edge in ad lib and spontaneous creativity. Maiden is more scripted, but the writing and versatility are stellar.

I was born at the right time. I first saw Led Zeppelin in 1970; They were my first concert ever. Got to see them again 2 nights in a row in 1975. The final time was 2 years later 1977 in Seattle. Saw sooo many of my favorite bands... hell I even got to know Elvis Costello and hang out with The Cult. I shook hands with the Dalai Lama...hung out with royalty ...been on the X-Files 4 times and much more, but at the top of my great memories list has been the Zeppelin concerts. That should give you an idea as to how good they were.

It was Led Zepplin that knocked the Beatles off the top of the charts. They were the true beginning of modern rock. I could have gone to this concert (and some of their other legendary ones), but I didn’t buy the tickets. Many of their songs are covers of old early blues songs. Although they’re from England, Robert Plant was into the very early blues in our country. Some of their songs, like “When the Levee Breaks” (Memphis Minnie - 1929) were old songs they covered. That’s just one of the songs that come to mind. Jimmy Page’s guitar along with Jon Bonham’s drums, and Robert Plant’s vocals were famous for their cohesiveness. Like they together formed one brilliant instrument. I don’t want to leave out John Paul Jones. He’s always been known as “the forgotten one”. Not. With his incredible bass, there would be no Zepplin. Glad you got into it!!! I love your channel. 😊

This was the 70s, the beginning of women being able to express sexuality, and Led Zeppelin capitalised on that out the ass, lol. Robert Plant's persona was "My baby left me and I'm going to sit in the corner and cry." He even wore women's shirts onstage a lot, it was a symbol that he was a lover of women, not a fighter. It was very appealing at the time. Trent Reznor of NIN revived this attitude in the 90s and it worked for him too. Love your reactions, keep going. Try "I Can't Quit You Babe", it's an early Zep blues tune, I think you'll like it.

Best live performance ever. 1973 Madison Square Garden. When Jimmy & Bonzo went looking for a singer they found Robert singing blues in a small Midlands town. There's a BBC Sessions collection of Led Zeppelin that includes, iirc, a still gestating Stairway to Heaven. However, that's not the main reason to listen because since it was all live you can hear a bit of banter between members, and because they were, at heart, a Blues band, they really change, sometimes almost unrecognizably, the songs. Kinda like the best jam band you've ever heard👨🎤
@keithlamontdavis80475 жыл бұрын
This may be my favorite thing they've done. So emotional. Since you enjoyed this one, check out Tea for One (studio version). It's another incredible slow blues jam. There are almost too many great Led Zeppelin songs to choose from. No Quarter, The Rain Song & The Ocean (live from this same concert), Ten Years Gone, Achilles Last Stand, Nobody's Fault But Mine, Dancing Days, D'yer Mak'er, Down by the Seaside, In the Light... (all studio versions). It goes on and on. Love your reactions, BTW. I can't imagine what it's like to be hit with all of this for the first time. Subscribed!

If you want rock, “Rock and Roll”, “Black Dog”, ballads, “The Rain Song” or “The Battle of Evermore”, “Going to California”. Some of my favorites, “The Ocean”, “Hey Hey What Can I Do?”, “Achilles Last Stand”, “Dancing Days”, “Fool in the Rain”, “For Your Life”.
